Recently Lucinda Rigg, from England Golf visited our club to facilitate a workshop aimed at supporting our work in recruiting women into golf.

Out of the hundreds of clubs England golf engage with across the country Richmond (Yorks) Golf Club has been selected as one of the 15 clubs in the North to be an England Golf's Pioneer Club.

This programme is about working alongside our club to understand our local community, identify opportunities, and develop an offer that reflects the needs of women in our area, with a particular focus on meeting the needs of women under 50.

Through insight, tailored support and practical testing, England Golf will help us create an experience that attracts new women into the club and encourages them to stay, participate and become part of our community.

Following on from the success of the Women in Golf programme which has been running since 2021, Janet Probert and Babs Gregory together with the help of various members and the board have already started to work on the project.

If anyone is interested in finding out more, or joining our friendly ladies section please contact us on 01748 823231

Yesterday, in the most amazing September weather, Catterick Ladies hosted Richmond Ladies for the inaugural Ann Thorpe Lawson Vase.

Anne Thorpe Lawson held a very special place at both clubs, having been Lady Captain at Catterick and Richmond, and it was lovely to come together to remember her and celebrate her love of golf. The beautiful vase was kindly donated by Anne’s family in her memory.

Played in a Solheim Cup format of foursomes, fourball better ball and singles, everyone had a great day of golf, with both teams fighting hard for every point. The match was incredibly close, with Catterick Ladies eventually coming out on top 5½ – 4½.

Congratulations to Catterick Ladies and well played to both teams — it was a fantastic match played in the best of spirits.

Everyone is already looking forward to the rematch next year, when the Ann Thorpe Lawson Vase will be played at Richmond!

Thank you to Mary Pettit and Sue Marshall for organising the event and to Mark Thorpe and Pauline Box for their support during the day.
