Harold Hill Bowls Club

Clubs under threat in Havering - including ours. Not only do the council want us to pay for green maintenance (we already pay for ours) but also utility bills, property maintenance and now they are asking for a calculated rent, in our case £12,800!
Other clubs in Havering are experiencing a similar hike in payments, but because, over the years through grants and club money we have vastly improved the facilities at our club, our is the highest hike!
We are not taking this laying down. The fight for survival goes on!

So tonight it’s Horse Racing at the Club. The Winter Quiz will be in a few weeks as we move towards Spring and the start of the bowling season.

The AGM approaches. Nominations are growing. Seems we’re doing many things right! Already planing New Year’s party which will be full of music and laughter!

Another great night at the club. Presentation Quiz night. Over 50 came along to congratulate the club competition winners and enjoy another quiz.

Today is our last club competitions finals day. Congratulations to the winners so far and good luck to those still to play. Lovely weather for it and Sunday lunch to boot! (Thanks to our Chairman). Still a few weeks of bowling left before the Winter Table Tennis sessions start.

The winning Presidents team on a great day at the Harold Hill Bowls Club. Plenty of fun, laughter, food and prizes. And the weather was fine also! Some don’t know what they’re missing!

End of the month again, so tonight is our free social evening where members come along and have a drink and a chat for a pleasant quiet evening. Tomorrow morning is another roll up followed by our so called debating society! A chat and a pint. Getting ready for another week of league and competition bowling.

Our green is performing brilliantly thanks to all the work carried out during the winter months. The leagues we play in are going well and we are close to the top. Good news that at long last our club landline is working again. Apologies if anyone has tried to ring us recently and could not get a reply. But now we’re up and running again, you can call the club with any queries you might have about the club or to let us know you would like to come to the club for a look around and to meet some of our members. Don’t sit at home looking at your four walls or old programmes on the tv, come and try us out. Quite a few already have!

The green has been tested and is running well and is nice and flat. So we are all ready to start outdoor bowling tomorrow! Two weeks earlier than normal due to the superb work carried out by our club captain and our organic Groundsmen. Some of our new members can have their short tests and can soon be bowling with the rest of the club. Matches start in may.
