The Reds welcomed Middleton Park Jrs U15 Yellow to Oulton Academy for a local derby. A game played at full throttle from the first whistle with both teams serving up end‑to‑end football - the kind that keeps parents on their feet and makes youth matches an absolute joy to watch.

Middleton pressed, countered and battled for every ball but the Reds matched the intensity with some good balls being played up the pitch, players combining well and showing some bravery when needed. It was one of those games where everyone played their part, and the awards reflected that.

Parents’ Player of the Match was Jack
Players of the Match went to Max and Iona.
Special Mention goes to Max for scoring his first goal for The Reds - a brilliant moment and one the whole squad celebrated with him.

A high‑tempo derby, great football on show and all played in a good manner!

The lads come into this absolutely buzzing after last weekend’s brilliant comeback - it was the kind of performance that showed character, belief and a fighting attitude. That energy is exactly what we’ll be looking to build on and bring into this fixture.

The Reds are back in action this weekend for a local derby against Middleton Park Jrs, looking to build on last week’s fantastic comeback and keep that momentum rolling.

We’re expecting an almost full‑strength squad, with the boys buzzing after a lasdt weeks performance and ready to put in another big shift.

It’s technically a home fixture, but we’re playing over at Oulton Academy — familiar ground, just not our usual one — and the lads will be aiming to make it feel like home from the first whistle.

A derby, a chance to capitalise on confidence and a squad nearly at full power.

Rothwell Juniors 11v11 Open Age Ladies

Big shout out to this fantastic bunch of ladies who played in Rothwell Juniors' first ever 11v11 Ladies Fixture. We played yesterday at Fleet Lane against Twenty Three FC in Div 6 of the West Riding County Women's Football League.

The result was disappointing but there were fantastic performances throughout the squad with players playing out of position and some playing in their first ever game of football.

One of our Under 8s Girls got to watch her mum and grandma play together in this historic fixture for our club. Quote of the day was "Go on Mum!".

⚽MATCH REPORT - 20.09.2026⚽

It was an early start and a familiar opponent — Horsforth JFC U15, a side who’ve edged The Reds previous meetings when the Reds were short on numbers. Not this time. With an almost full squad available, Rothwell arrived ready to put things right.

The game didn’t start the way they wanted, though. Horsforth struck twice and the Reds suddenly found themselves 2–0 down. Lesser teams fold there. This group didn’t.

What followed was everything you want from your team: character, graft and genuinely brilliant play.

Rothwell dug in, tightened up and began to move the ball with real purpose. Despite having the game poised at 2-2, Horsforth began to get on top. However, The Reds press sharpened, confidence grew and the momentum flipped. Goal by goal, they hauled themselves back into the game — then powered past Horsforth with a superb attacking display.

By full time, the Reds had completed a 6–4 comeback, showing exactly what they can do when they stay brave, stay together, and refuse to give in. A proper team performance. A proper comeback. And a result that says everything about their spirit.

Onto the next one. 🔴⚫

After 2 homes matches, the Reds are finally on the road, heading over to Bodington Sports Hub to take on Horsforth in a 10.30am kick‑off. We’ve played Horsforth before and fallen short but that was then. This is now and this time it’s different. We’re travelling with a near‑full team, fresh energy and the chance to show what we can do when everyone is available and ready to put in a proper shift and get back on track after last week’s disappointment.

The Reds are ready to go - sharp start - strong work rate - full focus.
Let’s put in a performance that we can all be proud of 🔴⚫

This Sunday the Reds are back at it with a 10.30am kick‑off against Horsforth - a team we’ve faced before and know well. Last time out we fell short — not
through effort or attitude, but simply because we didn’t have the numbers.

This time, it’s different.

We’ve got a full squad, fresh legs and the chance to show what this team can really do when everyone is available. Last week’s defeat is already in the rear‑view
mirror. What matters now is the response: sharp start, strong work rate and playing our football from the first whistle.

Horsforth will be competitive, but so are we. With a full team and the right mindset, Rothwell are ready to give them a proper game.

⚽MATCH REPORT - 13.09.2026⚽

The Reds were back in action at the weekend against East Ardsley, a side we know well — physical, competitive and never afraid to put themselves about. Nothing new to this group.

Rothwell started brightly. They were sharp on the ball, confident in the press and setting a good early tempo, taking the lead and looking to step it up. East Ardsley
grew into the game, leaping into a 2-1 lead before Rothwell snatched a goal back. With the game nicely poised at 2-2, there was a shift in momentum. Rothwell's legs got heavy and East Ardsley got on top, their physicality started to tip things their way. Despite the bright start, the match finished 6–2 to East Ardsley.
Plenty learned, plenty to build on.

There was no coach’s Player of the Match this week but the parents’ vote went to Callum, whose work rate, attitude and consistency stood out across the full
game.
