3 weeks on the bounce, could we put in another quality performance, how much would the wind affect us, would the rain hold off and would we get another decent ref. In short, yes, a little, yes and yes.
Our first cup game of the season saw Harpenden make their way down to the Rui Arena. In typical Rui fashion we started physical and kept the intensity around the contact areas high throughout the game and our scrum was again dominant.
Rui were first on the scoreboard with a battering run from Shannah and well converted by Charlotte. Harpenden hit back but that didn’t slow the Ruislip juggernaut. Strong carrying from Kelly, Burny, Em Case, Laura saw us work back up the pitch for Shannah to cross again.
A knee injury to Lamby meant a reshuffle with Katie sliding into 10, ans B on the wing. Janelle wanted to be sympathetic to Lamby’s injury so got a dislocated finger treated at the same time.
This time it was the turn of the backs to move the scoreboard along and with a great team effort that saw Charlotte cross for another 5 points. With her 3rd successful conversion Charlotte put us to 21-5.
Ruislip came out firing in the second half. A try from Hollie and Shannah completing her hat-trick meant Ruislip took a commanding lead in the game. Harpenden did hit back with a converted score of their own but the Ruislip Women wanted more and spent large chunks of the second half in Harpenden territory.
Lily finished off another great team try in the Ruislip Corner. With another dominant scrum Shannah saw the opportunity to pick and go on the blind side and after fending off a handful of would-be defenders she offloaded to Lily to again score in the corner.
Overall another outstanding team performance for the whole 80 mins. Credit has to go to Harpenden who battled for the whole 80mins and made us work for every point.
Forward of the match: Shannah
Who scored a hat trick of tries, made great carries and set up her team mates
Back of the match: Lily who scored a couple of tries and made some fantastic breaks!
As always, thanks to our brilliant supporters and sponsors. We go again in 2 weeks time!

Back to back games at the start of a season is always tough, couple that with some injuries from week 1, some enforced changes during the warm up and it’s fair to say that adaptability was going to be a key to our game.
But we learnt from last week, brought the training ground work with us and adapted to the situation and started the game on the front foot and never looked back.
Physicality is a staple of our game and Hampstead worked hard to match us and the opening period of the game was very evenly matched with both teams carrying hard, tackling hard and disrupting rucks.
Great line breaks from Hannah and Shannah, powerful running by Alice D and solid rucking across the park allowed us to move the defenders around and meant we were able to take the advantage and get deep into Hampstead territory.
First blood to Rui with skipper Hannah grounding the ball after a strong rolling maul.
The one woman scoring show was then set in motion with Hannah crossing for another 2 scores to complete her hat-trick before half time.
Having stolen ball at the ruck numerous times Shannah didn’t want to be out done by her back row partner and dotted down mid way through the second half to consolidate the lead for Rui.
Hampstead continued to show their talent and could easily of crossed the white wash for a couple of scores had it not been for try saving tackles from Charlotte and Hollie.
The final word of the match went to a young Ruislip winger, and where better to do it than at home. This won’t be the last time we see Oreofe on the score sheet!
Overall a true team performance, all 18 players left everything out on the pitch and gave everything from first whistle to last.
Coach Dre was a very happy man having seen the devastating rolling maul in effect again and an almost full repertoire of lineout routines used by the forwards.
Harpenden in the cup at home next week. We go again.
Forward of the match: Hannah who played a number of positions today, scored 3 tries and made good decisions stepping up as captain!
Back of the match: Alice who won a number of balls at the ruck, tackled well and made some great runs

🎉Full Match Report 🎉
Belsize Park vs Ruislip
A beautiful sunny day, a flypast from a Lancaster Bomber just as we arrived and the rugby season is back. Can’t ask for more from a Sunday.
After a good preseason, Ruislip were looking forward to turning all the hard work into a performance. Within the first few minutes things were certainly positive, a try from a devastating driving maul by skipper Rusty.
That try clearly gave Belsize some impetus and a rash of tries from some quick tap penalties and some brilliant handling work on the edge saw them take a commanding lead into the half time break. Ruislip did hit back before the break with a great power run from Scarlett.
Some deep breaths and a chance to refocus saw Ruislip come out with a tightened defence and some sharper handling in attack meant the momentum of the game swung towards Ruislip.
Another unstoppable rolling maul was touched down by Rusty, along with some good handling to score out wide by Delphine meant we had forwards backs and the set piece all on the score board.
The tightened defence meant Belsize only crossed once in the second half to bring the final score to 43-22.
It was a tough start to the season against a good Belsize team but plenty of good rugby played by the Ruislip Women.
Next up is the first home game of the season with Hampstead Ladies II visiting the Rui arena.

Unfortunately our first match of the season ended in defeat to who played some fast paced rugby to score some great tries. We look forward to playing you again later in the season!
However, the match was very much a game of two halves! At the interval, Ruislip trailed 36-12. In the second half, not one woman let their head drop and Ruislip played some fantastic rugby to score some great team tries! There is so much to take away from the match and into training ahead of our next match next weekend
Our players of the match:
Forward of the match: Hannah who made countless tackles and numerous carries into stage and heavy traffic. She never stopped for the whole match
Back of the match: Lamby who lead the backline and gave clear instructions to the pack all game. She fronted up in attack and defence and made good decisions
As always, thank you to our sponsors and fantastic supporters
Next up we have our first home match of the season against Hampstead on 22nd September. See you there!

Looking forward to our first league match this Sunday, it's time to meet our captains and leadership team for the season ahead!
Staying on as captain and vice captain for the upcoming season, we have the fantastic Rusty and Hannah
Both players led from the front and by example last season and it was felt that both deserved an opportunity to continue in their roles this year. We are so lucky to have two inspirational women leading us from the front!
Continuing in their roles within our leadership team this year are Hollie and Scarlett who both worked hard to support our captains last season and bring their leadership skills onto the pitch!
Joining the leadership team this year, we have Leanne and Beth who bring with them a sense of calm but purpose, both on and off the pitch, and offer a wealth of support to our captains and the team
We cannot wait to see what the season ahead brings and are so looking forward to getting back out there on Sunday! We would love all the support we can get, and show the hard work we have been putting in over pre-season!
