Emily was an absolute pleasure to work with.

Initially she wanted to mainly focus on glutes and building strength.

But although she had done classes in the gym, she hadn’t really ventured out into the free weights.

And this is exactly what was needed.

So during our time working together we did prioritise glutes above other muscle groups and pushed her to lift heavier whenever she was ready.

And we never did anything overwhelming.

No obsessively tracking every calorie.

No daily steps target.

Just two good strength training sessions per week in the gym and some flexibility outside of it.

The main thing that will stick with me though?

All the laughing we did!

Emily is just great to be around and I genuinely looked forward to every single session.

It’s always great whenever I bump into her now and I love seeing how she continues to progress long after her coaching ended.

Now seems as good a time as ever to launch the new logo 🙌

But the “Built for Life” programme isn’t new.

It’s been in the works since I took on my very first client 6 years ago.

Since then I’ve paid attention to every success and more importantly, every failure.

And there’s one lesson that stands out…

Copy and paste coaching programmes don’t work!

Every single client is an individual with their own personal goals, challenges and struggles that we need to cater to.

That’s why the first step is to get to know eachother and understand how to get the best out of you.

From there we agree what needs to be done in each phase of your coaching programme.

And I’m so confident that at the end, you will have exceeded every goal you had at the start.

I’m so confident that I guarantee it.

I have a love/hate relationship with this photo.

On one hand I’m enjoying an amazing weekend in Italy with my mates for a friend’s wedding.

At our age we don’t get together often so it was great to all be together.

But on the other hand I’m ashamed of myself.

Because despite being a PT I’d clearly been neglecting myself and not leading by example.

And I wish there was some sob story or deep reasoning behind it but there isn’t.

I’d made the transition to being a full time online coach and got lazy and complacent.

I hadn’t realised how much until this trip when not only was this photo taken but I had to take my T-shirt off and get in the pool.

I’ll never forget how self conscious I felt.

But although I still struggle with my own body image at times and may never fully shake the feeling of being a “big lad” (fu***ng huge, actually), I can look back now and see how far I’ve come.

But this isn’t really about me.

It’s about you, reading this feeling how I felt over that weekend.

Things can change if you do two things…

1. Take responsibility and ownership of where you’re at.

2. Fix the basics.

Don’t go into yet another crash diet which you can’t stick to longer than a week.

Don’t go punishing your body in the gym every night in a desperate attempt to burn some calories.

Focus on changing your eating habits so you control what’s going in, rather than the calories going out.

And sure, go the gym… but ease yourself in a couple of times a week.

Outside of that just move more - make sure you go for a walk (outside preferably) every day.

Those things alone will get the ball rolling and you can build on them in time.

Need help getting started?

Message me the words “FAT LAD” and I’ll see what I can do to make it easy for you.
