What help is out there for parents of children (Teens) ,who will not attend school ?

£450 million for a GOLF competition😡
£Billions paid for FOOTBALL tv rights 😡
and if Football/Sport donated just 1 weeks revenue from all its events, we could do so much ?

ANTI-BULLYING WEEK-NEXT WEEK …….. interest ?

Ryde -Getting £20million to help with anti-social behaviour, alongside other needed things.
Do you think that a RYDE group, that has focused on preventing aggression/violence for nearly 20 yrs , and far more and that has never received £1 , might just get a £ or will it go to SPORT, ART,MUSIC,DANCE OR SAVE THE HEDGHOG ?

After 20 yrs of trying to gain, some interest in “Children’s Anti-Bullying” , its now time to realise that there is no real interest and that its time to give up.

Practically, no interest from Parents, Education, Children’s Charities , Councils or the Police, so its Time to give up as Dance, Football, Craft and Art are considered far more important .

We actually got an award of £3000 but it came with so many strings , such as i must not criticise the council and that i must do it, for only 14 yr olds in Freshwater and Yarmouth.

Also i had only, one days notice, to renew Insurance and get a new DBS ( which takes weeks) and as one of the reasons i had applied , was the fact that at the time, we could not afford either and were in debt, owing to so many past “no-shows” and also the school doubling our hire fees, i told them to give the money, to someone else.

Any faith i did have in Schools etc evaporated long ago, so i am going solo with adult Tai Chi -Sports/Holistic Therapies and Womens Fitness Boxfit sessions and mixed Bootcamps.

I am again, applying for funding from the council etc. Funding which would allow us to continue and also help us put in place, some of the content/ideas, that we can not introduce, owing to expense .

We have spent years trying to create, some interest in “Kidz Anti-Bullying” and highlighting the rise in knife crime and on seeing, the recent fatal stabbing in Ryde, go practically unnoticed, it further underlines an apathy from Councils, Education, the Police and from people!!

After coming last behind activities such as FOOTBALL, FISHING AND SAVE THE HEDGEHOGS, this is our last attempt, at getting some interest or funding . Funding that would allow us to continue and to reach more locations and more children.

If we do not receive some response, i think its time to call it a day and accept, that interest in preventing, both Bullying and violence, comes a long way behind that in Sport, Skateboarding, Art and Dance etc.

Highlighted today - Young footballers rejected by clubs are suffering, because that is all they have known ????

The proliferation of Dance/Drama for children, is now increasingly instilling an expectation of “Fame” and the same degree of obsession, is not solely coming from children but from some parents, who are obsessively pushing children to be “ CHAMPIONS” to be the “ BEST” , there is also a lack of insight into the possible negatives.

Go to any Football/Dance competition and you will see the immense degree of intensity that the children are exposed to and it carry’s on in Schools and at home. There must be a control put in place and it should not be left, just to those clubs/Schools or parents because there is little, if any interest, in the psychological effects of not being a “ STAR” or not being the “BEST” and the damage caused to children’s mental health of not achieving these and of how it affects, our children’s futures .

The number of Children, under 10
Years old , being treated in hospital, for injuries from acts of violence, has increased by……..80%

Attacks with bladed articles in the UK have risen by 46% since 2012, there’s been a 10% increase between 2021 and 2022 alone. Over 49,000 offences with a blade last year.

An Isle Of Wight teenager, was recently charged with planning a terrorist attack, at the Isle Of Wight Festival !!

Violence/aggression in our society and in particular, in children, is getting worse and very little is being done, to directly understand, challenge or decrease it.

Yet, in a recent
Police supported “Isle of Wight” community funding event,
a longstanding struggling group, designed to focus solely on understanding and preventing Aggression/Violence and Stress, in children, from as young as 4yrs , gets absolutely no interest and no support. Where as, a totally new “Football” focused group, gets £5,000 and other groups including Art, Fishing, Singing , Drumming, a DJ and a songwriting group got help and an Animal Rescue Centre receives enough money to pay for Cat food for a year and finally, the National lottery gives over £4000 to one of the most affluent and elite locations, on the island!

All of these activities received support , after being voted for by other Charities ? Do we have to wait for a child to die and to then present our own tragic story, to get any support from the Isle of Wight ?

At present, it's not a dominant feature here but let's not make the mistake of thinking, that the reasons leading to its proliferation, elsewhere ....Fear,exclusion and many others, are not here !!

Children do not suddenly decide to stab people and its a tragedy that can be avoided, by challenging the factors, that develop this degree of aggression and violence . Keeping children “occupied” or using the worn out and oversimplified answer of getting them, into activities such as “Art” “Drama” “Sport”………is not working!!!

We will go on trying to reach more people, irrespective of officialdoms apathy.
