Uchi Uke (or Ude Uke): Inside forearm block.
Soto Uke: Outside forearm block. This is used to defend against attacks to the middle section of the body.
Shuto Uke: Knife-hand block, which uses the edge of the hand for defense.
Osae Uke: Pressing block, used to push down an opponent's attack.
Teisho Uke: Palm heel block.
Gedan Juji Uke: A low-level "cross block" or "X-block".
Jodan Juji Uke: A high-level "cross block" or "X-block".
Haishu Uke: Back-hand block.
Nagashi Uke: "Flushing" or sweeping block.
Sukui Uke: Scooping block.
Morote Uke: A reinforced or augmented block, which involves using a second hand to support the blocking arm.
