As with anything in life, good things always come to an end. After much consideration we've decided that last season will be our final year as a team... โค๏ธ

10 superb years with the best group of kids we as coaches could've wished to coach. From starting out at five aside to the group we've got now, everyone of them are an absolute credit. Plenty of laughter, plenty of tears but wouldn't change any of it for the world.

Massive thank you to all the parents/grandparents/brothers/sisters. This wouldn't have happened without your support over the years.

To all the sponsors who've kindly sponsored us with kits, training tops etc. Your support and kindness has always been appreciated.

And finally a massive thank you to all the boys. You've made our job as coaches really easy from the start. You've been an absolute joy to watch over the years. We wish you all the best going forward with your football careers, we've no doubt that you'll all go on and be successful.

We hope you all enjoyed it as much as we did. Thanks everyone!!

Heartbreaking final defeat for the boys as we lose out on pens...

A top class final was played out today in front of a good crowd at Selby Town. A really tight cagey first half and chances were at a premium. The first real chance produced the first goal. Jake Ellerby pressed the Kirk Deighton defender, won the ball and drove into the box. With the outside of his boot he coolly slotted into the far corner to put us 1-0 up before the break.

Kirk Deighton started the 2nd half strong and pinned us back. Calum made a great save at the near post to keep our lead in tact. We gained control of the game eventually and this was our chance to put the game to bed. We got into some great positions but just lacked that cutting edge/final ball. Alfie Kelsey stepped up and hit a dipping 30 yard free kick on to the crossbar. The ball somehow hit the keeper and then fell to Jake who unfortunately put it wide. Within a minute, Kirk Deighton were level. A long ball forward was flicked on and then put home to equalise.
Both teams huffed and puffed but neither team could get a winner and the game went to pens.
Calum saved the first spot kick with a brilliant save to his left. We then went on to miss our first 3 penalties. Calum then produced another stop to keep us in it. Charlie Perry finally got us on the scoreboard as he slotted his penalty to the goalkeeper's right to make it 2-1. Kirk Deighton stepped up to score the winning penalty, Calum dove to his left and saved the penalty, the ball has then spun back and gone into the goal. Genuinely the most unfortunate thing we've ever seen. Absolute heroic performance from our goalkeeper. Well done mate ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ’ช

Massive well done to Charlie Cawthray who was named MOTM by the Barkston Ash FA. Absolutely superb and was a great battle to watch with the Kirk Deighton right winger.

And a massive well done to the winners Kirk Deighton. Hope you've had a good day celebrating... ๐Ÿ‘

Just one of them days unfortunately. Football is a cruel game at times but as we said in the changing rooms, use it as fuel to go again next season and put it right. The lads have had a brilliant season, fine margins have cost us in both cup competitions and the league but we've proved they are as good as anyone around. They really are the best set of lads, it's been an absolute pleasure. Onwards and upwards!! ๐Ÿ’ชโšฝ๏ธ๐Ÿ‘

๐ŸŸกโšซ๏ธ STRENSALL 1-5 TUFC ๐Ÿ”ด๐Ÿ”ด

Despite a terrible start, we sign off in style with a good win and performance away at Strensall...

Knowing a win was required to keep the pressure on at the top of the league, we started like we'd never kicked a football before. We were 1-0 down after barely a minute and could easily have been 2 not long after. We took a while to compose ourselves on a really tight bobbly pitch. Strensall didn't let us settle and battled well, making it really hard to play our normal game. We huffed and puffed for most of the first half without creating anything clearcut. Jake "Rory Delap" Ellerby's long throw-ins were causing all sorts of trouble but nothing would drop. We equalised just before the break when Harrison Foreman headed home.

Second half, we showed our class. Dominated from start to finish. Moving the ball well and barely letting Strensall out of their half. A Harrison corner caused chaos in the box, Charlie R bundled the ball onto his pal Layton and somehow the ball ended up in the net to make it 2-1. Harry Tate beat his man out wide and was brought down in the box by the Strensall defender. He stepped up and stuck the penalty in the bottom corner to put us 3-1 up. Alfie Kelsey then made it 4 when he found space in the box and expertly put it away to put the game beyond doubt. The impressive Harrison, who was named MOTM by the referee, delivered a quality cross straight on to the head of Jake Ellerby who produced an Alan Shearer like header to make it 5-1.

We finish the season top of the league, 1 point ahead of our rivals Hamilton Panthers who still have Poppleton to play. Let's see what happens with that but overall a superb season and one we hope to build on going into next season!!

We'd all like to wish a speedy recovery to Freddie Turner who has broken his collar bone. Get well soon mate... ๐Ÿ’ช

One more game to go!! Next Sunday we face off with Kirk Deighton at Selby Town in the Barkston Ash FA Cup final. A great way to finish off the season for the boys... ๐Ÿ†
