Our thoughts and condolences to Rebecca’s family and friends, sad news.

Condolences to the family and friends of Rebecca (Becky) Thompson, who recently lost her life in the Catalina Channel at the age of 47. Just one year ago, Becky completed a MSF-ratified swim across Schroon Lake, New York.

Team GB – World Championships Team Selection
The IISA GB Board has been discussing team selection and the options available to us, as there is no fixed team allocation for the World Championships in Oradea.
As a Board, we would like to communicate that, while our aim is to enter the strongest Team GB squad possible, we also recognise that many swimmers will wish to take part. Therefore, our approach to team selection is as follows:
Sponsored Team GB Places
Swimmers who meet one of the following criteria will qualify as a sponsored Team GB member. Sponsorship relates to the provision of Team GB kit and any additional items provided through team sponsors.

Any swimmer who qualifies for an Elite race.
Any swimmer whose qualifying times are ranked within the top six of their age group.
Para swimmers entering events for which they already hold a time. Where no qualifying time has been achieved. Swimmers should use the upcoming season , this will enable times to be recorded and considered for future selection opportunities.

Other Entries
Swimmers who do not meet the above criteria may still enter; however, they should do so with the understanding that they are unlikely to receive Team GB kit or other sponsored items.
In addition, we would ask swimmers whose qualifying times fall outside the top 10 of their age group to carefully consider whether entering the Championships is the most appropriate option.
Entry Review
The Board will review entries as they are submitted to ensure that selections remain aligned with this approach.

Ok, quick update, I have processed all of the lower distances with the exception of those on the waiting list that don’t appear to have a profile.

Please check your IISA Bio’s and make payment as soon as possible. If I haven’t added you ping me a message with your Bio ID and I’ll take a look.

Hi everyone, the system has now been updated and I am working down the waiting list. Please please please make sure you have an IISA Bio if you have added yourself to the waiting list and that your names tally. If I cannot find you on the search engine it makes it extremely difficult for me to add your entry.

Global membership is no longer required IF you are a home country swimmer ( I’ll sort that issue out next )

Hi Everyone, the manual entry facility has been added back into the IISA website so I can now start processing the waiting list.

To help please keep an eye on your Bio as soon as you see you have been added send me your seeding time with just the following information - NAME - EVENT - SEEDING TIME - to [email protected] ( please keep the email to the above info, I’ve a lot of entries to add manually and I have the attention span of a gnat ).

Once you have sent in your seeding time/s please complete your payment to secure your place.

Please note - we have removed both lunch and break times so the volunteers will be working on a rolling basis, whilst this has enabled us to fit all of the additional lower distance heats in we won’t be able to fit any extra 1k or 500m events into the schedule.

We will work down the waiting list in the time stamped order as and when slots become available for both of the above distances.

We are looking at an additional day next year to facilitate the increased demand.
