Join us at the castle this weekend- Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th April. Starts at 10am.

The Siege of Whittington Castle 1403

The year is 1403, Owain Glyndŵr, Prince of Wales, is in open rebellion against the
English crown and vying for his country's independence. He now strikes out at
English held castles in the Marches, hoping to prove to King Henry IV that this
rebellion will not be so easily contained within the Welsh borders as he had hoped.
Glyndŵr’s sight is now fixed on Whittington castle, a small stronghold within the
territory of the Marcher Lord Thomas FitzAlan, Earl of Arundel. Glyndŵr hopes to
take the castle to show the Marcher lords that the Welsh will not be so easily
pacified.
Come see knights and soldiers battle it out for control of the castle!
Witness medieval siege warfare first hand!
See a variety of living history displays showing the daily life of the period!
Get a look at medieval medicine with the barber-surgeon!
See the equipment of the medieval soldier as they prepare for battle

A small Corbet force is back from a weekend of filming! Looking forward to seeing the end result. Thank you to Coventry Levy - Medieval re-enactment group for having us along.

No Man's Land was our first large display of the year, and the Welsh weather was in full wind against the Marcher presence! We portrayed a post-1066 conquest camp with a mixed Norman, Saxon and Welsh presence - as the Corbet Shropshire lands would have reflected in this era. Thank you to the event organisers for their efforts!

Our highlight was a weapons and skirmish display, pitching Cwmwd-Iâl Reenactment and ourselves opposing Stronghold Reenactment and Les Miles Des Marches - Shrewsbury Levy. A good fight all around, especially a hearty clash against our fellow Marcher brethren - thank you guys!

Here are a few camp photos, with credit to the amazing Daz's Photography who braved the weather, and a few from our own members. Please check out Daz’s other photos from the event.

Our next event is the following weekend at No Man's Land, at Bodrhyddan Hall, North Wales! This is a large multi-period reenactment, with a wide variety of eras and geographical variants being portrayed. Photo by the fantastic Christopher Doyle Photography taken last year.

No Man's Land, N Wales - April 11/12 🐦
Official Whittington Castle - April 25/26 🐦
St George’s, Telford Park - April 25
Clun Green Man - May 2/3/4
Evesham Market - May 16/17

Photo is courtesy of Tempus Phenix, taken at the Whittington Castle Siege in 2024. A low status footman has scaled a 20 foot wall ladder only to be viciously repulsed by a couple of well-to-do Corbets! By the poor chap’s bend, it looks like he may have been from a competing cadet branch! There’s nowt more messy than rivalry - which is why we limit ours to theatrics!

Our last Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery visit of Spring was held today! Great conversations, including some very specific Corbet questions! Our next event is No Man's Land on April 11/12, a fantastic event with a variety of reenactment groups from across history!

Sarah Thursfield, professional seamstress, researcher and author of The Medieval Tailor's Assistant will also be trading at the upcoming The Original Reenactors Market! As a member of the Corbets, we all very much value her expertise with clothing. Sarah’s activities pre-date and exceed her involvement in the Corbet group, so when she’s not away on other historical adventures, you may find Sarah sewing away in our camp!

Lea, Luke and Elfin will be trading at The Original Reenactors Market this coming weekend 🙂 We’re immensely proud of them as Corbet members, since joining in 2024! Amongst various crafts, historical workshops and a new medieval wheel, they’re an equally friendly and talented family, and a welcome addition to the historical crafts and reenactment community. Pop by their stall in you’re at TORM this weekend! We hope to see the wheel in action this year at various events. You can follow them further on Instagram,

Our final medieval Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery display of early 2026 will be Saturday 14th March! Come along to learn about the mighty Corbet family and their involvement in the Welsh Marches; conflicts, castles and marriages!

We greatly enjoy playing our part in the community by providing our free services to the museum - contributing in a small way to keeping education and medieval history accessible to everyone.

We're at the time of year where we receive many new membership requests! While we welcome new members through our firm but fair process, sometimes we don't have capacity - or perhaps you'd find a better fit elsewhere! Either way, we'd like to ensure you find your place in our vibrant hobby.

So, if we can't take you on, or you’re after something else, here is a list of other groups with substantial Shropshire memberships - in no particular order. They have their own medieval periods and social depictions, in addition to differences in how the re-enactment side is run - hierarchy, authenticity, training, etc - so we'd always recommend check a few out to find your re-enactment family.

- Cwmwd-Iâl Reenactment
- Conquest Norman Re-Enactment and Living History
- The Official English Free Companye Page
- Les Miles Des Marches - Shrewsbury Levy
- Hrafn Vaeringi
- Sericum et Gladium
- Raudr Vagr
- The House of the Black Star

If we've missed a group out, no sleight intended - but if one is taken, we can settle it Faintheart style if you like!

For any of our Corbet followers in the USA missing out on Battle of Shrewsbury reenactment, we’d really recommend going to see Company of the Black Spear if you can make it to Fort Loudoun PA in May!
