💡 One of Liverpool’s lesser known, but most significant Shropshire connections was Tom Bush.

Born in Hodnet in 1914, Bush joined Liverpool from Shrewsbury Amateurs in 1933 and went on to make 69 competitive appearances for the Reds.

After retiring as a player, he remained at Liverpool and played an important role in developing the club’s younger talent. Five members of his junior development team later collected medals when Liverpool won the FA Cup for the first time in 1965.

Bush spent 37 years with Liverpool, excluding his wartime service — an extraordinary contribution both on and off the pitch!

Hillsborough Law clears the House of Commons in historic moment

💡 Did you know that former Liverpool defender Peter Wall came from Shrewsbury?

Wall began his professional career with Shrewsbury Town before moving to Wrexham. Bill Shankly then brought the full-back to Liverpool, where he made 42 competitive appearances between 1968 and 1970.

He later enjoyed a long spell with Crystal Palace, making more than 200 appearances and becoming club captain, before finishing his playing and coaching career in America.
Peter sadly passed away in 2024, aged 80.

A proud Shropshire connection to the Shankly era.
