🤔 Which Pilates class is right for me? Reformer or Matwork? Runners or Challenge? And what if I’m a BEGINNER? 🤯
There’s lots to consider when choosing a class - in terms of your goals, and preferences regarding class format/feel, environment, and instructor. So, here’s a few tips to help you decide whether a class might be right for you 🤗
❓MATWORK or REFORMER? Well, it depends! If you’re new to the Pilates method we suggest starting with Matwork to grasp the key principles and build body awareness before adding the complexity of equipment.
However, if you’re familiar with Pilates and have a specific goal (eg rehab of shoulder or hip), the Reformer can offer an extra level of support to ensure you’re working efficiently.
Simply put - if in doubt, ask! We’re always happy to talk you through the best option for your individual needs 😊
❓ Which TYPE of class? What’s the difference?
Our RELAXED classes (Reformer + Matwork Pilates) are perfect if you’re a beginner, returning to exercise, or prefer a more gentle pace.
Our CHALLENGE (Matwork) and REFORMER PILATES classes stay true to the method, focusing on exploring the full repertoire to build core strength, improve mobility and enjoy feel-good movement.
Our RUNNERS classes (Matwork and Reformer Pilates) are underpinned by the Pilates principles but take a more functional approach by focusing on the movement patterns essential for efficient gait, and building the strength, mobility and muscular endurance to achieve them.
❓What should I expect from my INSTRUCTOR?
All our Pilates instructors are Merrithew® | STOTT PILATES® STOTT Pilates certified, and highly qualified to support you in class.
We aim to get to know you and your body and create a friendly, inclusive environment that helps you to relax and progress at your own pace.
Many of our new clients choose to book a PRIVATE session first if they’re new to the Reformer and would like to join a class. It’s a great way to build confidence and get to know your instructor, to ensure you get the most from each movement.
