Went to see Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey the other week and I was completely blown away.

What a lot of you might not know about me: before I was GaryTheTrainer, I trained in theatre at the The BRIT School - and my final year production was The Odyssey. Derek Walcott's stage adaptation back in 2002

Recently I found this old programme for the show. I played various roles including Menelaus (King of Sparta, married to Helen of Troy) and Eurylochus (Odysseus' second-in-command).

In the movie Jon Bernthal and Himesh Patel played those characters. I was probably busy when Nolan called me.

Fun fact : I designed the poster/front cover for the show myself long before Canva existed, this was Microsoft word and a photocopier.

I let AI have a go at restoring them for me. Check out the last 2 slides to see how it came out.

Good memories

Train in the gym or train at home? Different walls, same fight*l

Gym or garage. Machines or dumbbells. Doesn't matter.

The mission's identical: show up, get stronger, prove something to yourself.

Kit. Space. Maybe you're dodging the dog instead of dodging the bloke hogging the squat rack. Maybe your "gym floor" is a garage with a yoga mat and a stack of plates.

What's the same ?

The discipline. The consistency. The version of you that turns up on the days you don't feel like it.

That's the bit that actually builds the strong, confident woman you're trying to become. Not the postcode. Not the equipment. The mindset.

Whether you're Team Gym or Team Home, She Lifts meets you where you are, with a programme built for exactly that path.

4 days until Round 2 kicks off. Spots are going. If you've been sat on the fence, this is your nudge.

Liss doing Liss things. 💪

Caught this on camera last night and had to share.

Liss and I began working together a couple years ago now. Watched her go from unsure in the weights room to properly strong, properly confident, properly herself in there.

When she came off programme, I gave her her wings. Some coaches want to keep clients dependent forever. Not me. The whole point was always to build someone who doesn't need me standing over her.

And now? Strength training is just part of her life. No debate, no motivation needed, no "should I go today". It's just what she does.

That's the actual win. Not the PBs, not the numbers on the bar (though there's been plenty of those too). It's that it stuck.

This is why I built She Lifts. Same process, same principles, built for women who want strength to become part of who they are, not just something they do for eight weeks and drop.

Round 2 starts Monday 7 September. Spots are going.

A year since you left us bro

Gonna admit. I kinda fell to pieces that day.

Not sure if it's because I was there to watch you leave or because of the chunk of my support system that had been taken from me.

I struggled. Life fell apart a bit. Business suffered. Went through a break up. Drugs, booze, spending. All the bad stuff.

I saw more of you than my own siblings. I never needed a barber. Just needed my homie. A couple times a month. For dumb bu****it like this.

12 months later and I think I'm finally rebounding. But had to mark the day by just writing you this note. Love you mate.

So grateful I have these little moments in my camera roll to remember you brother

Rest in peace Lee

The Originals. This lot were the first ever She Lifts cohort, kicking off back in June, and they set the bar ridiculously high.

14 women. 8 weeks. Zero cardio, zero excuses.

By the numbers:
→ 383 tracked workouts logged as a group
→ 767 personal bests smashed
→ Just week 1 alone: 48 workouts, 46 PBs

Standouts like Kal, Madde and Lucy racked up 60+ sessions each. Leah, Philippa and Louise weren't far behind. Every single one of them showed up.

Round 2 kicks off Monday. Same energy, same results waiting to happen, just needs you in the room.

5 days.

Women training together.
Women getting stronger.
Women backing each other.

And a training environment where nobody needs to already be “good at the weights” before they belong there.

In 6 days, we start.

This isn’t about turning up doing the exercises you already feel comfortable with.

It’s about learning how to lift properly.
Trying things you might have avoided before.
Getting stronger.
Building confidence.
And realising you’re capable of a hell of a lot more than you thought.

If you’ve been watching SheLifts thinking “I’d love to do that, but…” this is your sign to stop sitting on the fence.

💗💙 6 days to go.

Want in? Comment “SHELIFTS” below or DM me “SHELIFTS” and I’ll send you everything you need to know.

If you’re doing She Lifts At Home, here’s the only kit you need.

No bench. No fancy bands. Just you and the steel.

I recommend steel spinlock dumbbells over the plastic ones. They take up way less space, which matters if you’re training in a spare room or a corner of the lounge. Plastic sets can be a bit cheaper, but for space and durability, steel wins every time.

Plastic sets can chip and crack over time, especially once you’re loading up. Steel just lasts. You buy them once and you’re set for years, not just for the programme.

That’s genuinely all you need to get strong at home. No fancy setup, no excuses, no waiting for a gym slot.

We start Monday the 7th of September.

This was the first time Michelle’s put extra weight on the bar for a back squat.

Look at that form. Depth, control, bar path dead straight down the spine. Impressive form for someone not usually comfortable with the oly.

Michelle came into She Lifts with proper gym anxiety. Didn’t know the etiquette, didn’t know the equipment, felt like everyone was watching her. Classic story, and one I hear a lot.

Fast forward and she averaged a PB every time she went in, sometimes with her other half training alongside her. That’s the whole point of the programme. Lifting heavier, actually feeling like the gym is hers.

If you want your Michelle moment, comment or DM “SHE LIFTS” and I’ll get you sorted.
