🏃‍♀️🏅 SHARES Lancashire Annual Athletics Event 2026 🏅🏃‍♂️

On Tuesday, we hosted our annual Athletics Event at Edge Hill University, welcoming over 250 children from our member schools to compete in a fantastic day of running, jumping and throwing events.

Every child represented their school with determination, resilience, fairness and great sportsmanship. We couldn't be prouder of the effort and enthusiasm shown by everyone who took part. Well done to all our athletes!

It was an incredibly close competition, with Cobbs Brow Primary School and St John's Catholic Primary School winning their respective groups. Congratulations to Cobbs Brow Primary School, who were crowned our overall champions!

A huge thank you also goes to the amazing school staff who gave up their time to support the children throughout the day, and to all the parents, carers and family members who came along to cheer from the sidelines. Your encouragement helped create a brilliant atmosphere and made the day even more special.

Thank you to everyone who helped make the event such a success.

What an incredible day our pupils had exploring the heart of our capital! From visiting the Houses of Parliament and learning how laws are made, to seeing the iconic Big Ben and enjoying a picnic in the sunshine, it was a day full of learning, laughter and unforgettable memories.

Our pupils were an absolute credit to their schools. Their enthusiasm, resilience and exemplary behaviour made us all incredibly proud.

🏈✨ SHARES Lancashire Pupil Parliament – Inspiring the Next Generation ✨🏈

SHARES Lancashire Pupil Parliament had the incredible opportunity to welcome special guest Alex Lenkowski for an inspiring and interactive session focused on health, wellbeing and the importance of staying active — an experience made possible through ActiveKids UK.

Alex shared his inspiring journey through sport and spoke to our children about the importance of health, wellbeing, resilience and developing a positive mindset. As Team GB American Football Captain, with over 14 seasons of experience, Alex works with young people and athletes to develop both their physical and mental performance, encouraging individuals to believe in themselves and reach their full potential.

Our schools had the opportunity to learn more about why looking after both your body and mind matters, how regular exercise can support overall wellbeing, and how small healthy habits each day can create long-term positive change. Alex encouraged our children to challenge themselves, step outside their comfort zones and understand that success isn’t always about winning — it’s about effort, attitude and giving things a go.

The children got active and stepped into the world of American Football, learning new skills, taking part in drills and experiencing just how energetic and exciting the sport can be — and what a fantastic workout it was! There was so much energy, teamwork, encouragement and determination shown throughout the afternoon, with children supporting one another and embracing every challenge.

A huge well done to all of our amazing Pupil Parliament representatives for getting involved and throwing themselves into the activities.

What a beautiful turnout for yesterday’s SHARES Lancashire Park Run event in the sunshine ☀️🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

It was fantastic to see so many children, schools, staff and families coming together to celebrate physical activity, teamwork and school spirit. The energy, encouragement and determination shown by every child involved was incredible, and we are so proud of everyone who took part.
