If you fancy getting involved in time trialling without competing. Time keepers are so important to the process.

We may be jumping a little bit ahead here, but in the New Year we are running a couple of "Time Keeping Workshops". This is an opportunity to learn about timekeeping at "Open Events", share best practices & how to use your watch, plus record. Also we will feature the benefits of "resultsheet" & how to use it if you haven't. The venue is Greatham Village Hall, which may not appear central but a lot of riders appear to get there from far & wide. Both dates are Tuesday evenings starting at 19:00hrs., 13th February & the 9th April. Our preferred capacity will be 25 persons, anymore then it's difficult to involve everyone. Entry isn't on performance but First come First served (FCFS). Contact [email protected] if you are interested or have any questions.
We will be also running an organisers workshop on another date, details later.

Few spaces left - FREE BRITISH CYCLING RIDE LEADER TRAINING COURSE, 17 OCTOBER 2023

As some of you may know, I’ve taken on the role of Community Developer for Southampton in a new partnership with BC and we’re looking for people to join the team of Ride Leaders and inspire more people to get fit, have fun and ride bikes with Guided Rides.
You don’t need to be a cycling expert, just be confident riding in a group and have a good level of cycling fitness and you’re happy to support beginner bike riders and families. Delivered by an expert tutor, the British Cycling Ride Leader Level 1 course is perfect for people who want to lead groups of riders out on the road or cycle paths.
The assessed one-day course, is funded by Southampton City Council’s partnership with British Cycling and qualifies you to deliver guided bike rides for groups of beginner and intermediate level adults and accompanied children on roads and cycle paths. We’ll also provide you with branded kit, British Cycling Ride membership and ongoing support to help you on your way.
The course covers preparing for a ride, group management, risk management, route planning and British Cycling’s good practice guidelines.
When is it?
This 1-day course will take place at Monty’s Bike Hub, Sholing on Tuesday 17th October, plus half a day online learning and another half day for first aid (if required).
What we need from you
Deliver a minimum of eight Guided Rides a year in the Southampton area
Complete post-ride admin on letsride.co.uk
Promote Guided Rides on your own social media channels
What do I need to be able to register?
The minimum age to attend a course is 18 years old and you must be a confident and competent recreational cyclist to lead groups on the road.
How to apply
Candidates do not need British Cycling membership but IF they are new to BC, they will need to create a free online account using this link: https://www.britishcycling.org.uk/uac/connect
