Injury self management🤸🏻‍♀️🏋🏻‍♀️😨

As many of my clients are probably bored of me telling them, injury prevention/ recovering from an injury is very dependent on your self management strategies. People are often confused by this and don’t know where to start!

Of course, how you manage your injury is going to vary massively depending on the type of injury you have. However I think there are some general rules that everyone can follow to help speed up recovery/ prevent further injury!

Keep it super simple by following some of these steps:

- Regularly use a foam roller for any tight areas that are causing pain! (I will add more foam rolling vids to my page soon)

- Strength and conditioning is everything!! This doesn’t have to be complex. Strengthen surrounding structures to help aid recovery / prevent injury of a problematic area.

- Adequate rest. Listen to your body!!! If things aren’t feeling right and your body is feeling sore - give yourself the rest you need. Overtraining is a very common reason people develop injuries.

My lovely little room at ❣️

Here’s a few snapshots of one of my rooms! (taken by the amazing ) I have recently given this room a little makeover and myself and my clients have been enjoying the new diffuser and salt rock lamp😍 My goal is to create a space where clients’ can relax and unwind and most importantly feel comfortable 🧘‍♀️🤍

Hip mobility work🤸🏻‍♀️

Spent some time working on some hip mobility exercises earlier today. This is a great little combo of a few of my fav exercises to do before a leg workout!

These exercises are also great for those who spend a lot of time sitting down! Being sat down all day can lead to the hip flexors becoming very tight. Once hip flexors are tight - this can have a knock on effect for glutes and other surrounding structures. Hip mobility is very important for general movement patterns and injury prevention🧘‍♀️❣️

Soft Tissue Sport Massage Treatment 🤍


New class!! 🧘‍♀️🤍

As a few of you are already aware, I’m going to be holding a new class at Pretty Fit Studio! The class is aimed at all abilities and the idea is to work through some stretches for the major muscle groups and guide you through some stretching combos that are great to relieve muscle tightness!

After treatment top tips 🧘‍♀️…

Hydration!!! This is my number 1 top that I always tell my clients. This is important to help the body release toxins that come to the surface during massage.

Stretching, heat therapy and other relaxation techniques can also help enhance treatment benefits and continue to promote tissue healing 🤍


Sleep importance & tips 🌝 …

Just wanted to share some of the reasons why sleep is SO important. You could have the perfect diet, perfect exercise regime and do all the right things but without sleep you will not receive the full benefits of those choices.

There are many different ways to help increase the quality of your sleep! Some things I find work for me include reducing screen time before bed (atleast 1 hour before bed is desirable). Use of magnesium lotion before bed. Using my diffuser. Ensuring the room is nice and cool. Minimising caffeine after 2pm (I’m not so good at this one🤦🏼‍♀️)

I’m no expert, but what I do know is that we can deffo enhance the quality of our lives by ensuring we take the right steps to a good night sleep 🥰


Tight hamstrings? 🤔

One of the most common reasons for sport massage! Many of us experience tight hamstrings at some stage. Whether that be due to participation in your chosen sport or simply from walking the dog!

We are also spending increasing amounts of time sat on our bottoms and not activating our glutes! If our glutes are lazy and not doing their job properly, the next port of call is the hamstrings. Therefore the hamstrings are often taking on more load than what they can handle so it is important we look after them. Give this little stretch combination a try if you are struggling with tight hamstrings!! Will be posting a little video to follow on this later on..👀
