DEVELOPMENT TEAM MATCH REPORT

We welcomed a high flying SJB Ladies Team today. Unfortunately, we just wasn't at the races from the first whistle to the last.
We found ourselves 2 down in the first 20 minutes. Not longer after that, a nice pass from Maddison Dunlevy to Raiyat Asif, whose shot rattled the bar.
Just over 5 minutes left of the first half SJB score 2 in quick succession. HT 4-0
We started well in the second half but after 55mins we conceded again 5-0. SJB score twice more in the last 15 minutes. Full Time Cru devs 0-7 SJB Ladies.
A bad day at the office, but we have plenty of big games left to come this season. Onto next week. 🟨🟩

POTM goes to Jamielee Williams never gave up despite the score and showed plenty of energy.

Unfortunately our league game at home to Droitwich has been postponed as the pitch is too wet following recent rain.

Both teams are in action on Sunday afternoon with 2pm kick offs.

The 1st team are at home to Droitwich Spa ladies who are in great form and will provide a stern test as we aim to maintain our top of the table position.

The Develpment team travel to promotion chasing Long Itchington in what will also be a stern test as we look to climb the table.

Many of our super talented younger players have just spent a week in Utah with Bournville U18’s competing in the 7Elite Tournament going undefeated.

They won the final 5-0, following a campaign where they won 2 out of 3 penalty shootouts, the trophy was presented by former England international !

Congratulations to Amber, Alana, Eesha, Raiyat, Kia, Suraya, Lauren, Antonia, Jada, Zanayah, Sophia and our head coach Rob!

Frustrating game today. Even first half with not many chances from both sides. 0-0 ht.
Second half we tried to keep playing but we turned the ball over too often. First goal came from us allowing too much time at the back 2 long balls rounded Claudia and passed it in.
Second goal the forward knocked inside of the defender and hit it from 20 yards into the goal.
Good debuts from Emelia and Izzy.
Wasn't to be today against a physical Tipton side.

MANAGERS POTM - DONNA TOMPKINS- Defended really well at full back and tried to make things happen going forward especially in the first half.

A brace from Super striker Dani Selmes proved the difference as Cru finally overcame a very well organised physical Bromsgrove side to earn three massive points on an afternoon where other teams dropped points as we regained the lead at the top of the table.

The first half was a hard fought affair as Bromsgrove pushed Cru hard all over the pitch. Cru nearly took the lead on 7 minutes when Dani’s header from Amelia Hart’s pinpoint free kick was well saved. Just before the break Bromsgrove broke away and only a fabulous last ditch tackle from Kia Shaw prevented them an opportunity on goal.

HT 0-0

Cru showed a lot more attacking prowess in the second half and Suraya Hutchinson went on a scintillating run, beating several players only to be denied by the keeper. But 3 minutes later the deadlock was broken when Suraya was again heavily involved before Keeley Davies’ wonderful cross was hit home on the volley by Dani Selmes to take the lead. Just a minute later Kloe Douglas crossed and Nikki Brazil’s header agonisingly hit the post. Minutes later Nikki was denied again by a super save by the keeper. The game was decided in the 67th minute when Keeley’s superb cross was headed home by Dani to seal the win and bring her seasons tally of goals to an incredible 30!

The girls had to dig deep to earn victory this afternoon against a very decent side - a fabulous result and well done all! We wish Bromsgrove the very best for the rest of the season.

MANAGERS PLAYER OF THE MATCH-NIKKI BRAZIL-in a hard fought physical game ‘Braz’ showed all her battling qualities winning several huge tackles as well as offering a goal scoring threat in an all action display! 💪

OPPOSITION PLAYER OF THE MATCH-KIA SHAW - some magnificent tackles including a crucial one at the end of the first half and her pace caused Bromsgrove problems all afternoon! 💪

Cru are boosted by the return of the previously ever present Lauren Jones. Natasha Stewart comes into the squad after impressing throughout the season in the Development side. It’s a 2pm kick off with all support welcomed! 🟩🟨
