Speed, agility and power warm ups 🔋
We’ve added in some agility and shuttles runs, along with jumping and hopping sequences in our warm ups.
It prepares and primes the body for the session ahead, with all parts holding important weight during a game of football ⚽️
The boys have put in a real shift lately trying to develop their game 🫡

The importance of Speed, Power & Balance 🏎️🔋⚖️
As part of all of our sessions we spend some time working on speed, power and balance.
It is so important in football to be able to take off and land efficiently on both legs singularly and together. These need to be done with power, under good control to condition our body to the needs of football.
We also need to react quickly to different stimulus and be able to accelerate as fast as possible.
Here’s a little taster of the boys working on these within our session:
- 2 feet to 2 feet
- 2 feet to 1 foot
- 1 foot to 2 feet
- Jump out then jump up
- Quick feet with explosive sprint on command
Fitness with the footballs ⚽️
Here’s great little football fitness drill to improve speed and control with the ball, as well as increasing fitness levels 🫀
The boys worked very hard in hot conditions to try and catch each other up 🏁
Our 1:2 competitive challenge this week looked at passing accuracy from different distances 🎯
The boys had to hit the tall cone over from each cone to win 🥇

- Start closer and work your way further back
- Start further back and work your way closer
- Start at any level and take the cone away once you’ve completed that level

Few bits from recent 1:1’s and 2:1 sessions ⚽️
They’ve all been working so hard lately to improve all areas of their game 💪🏼
We like to start off with some plyo exercises to get us moving, improve our power output and balance work, followed by some smaller drills to really refine technique before moving in to full patterns and putting everything together ⚽️
Expanding their footballing brains along the way with reasons for why and what scenarios you might do something in a game 🧠

A lot of work on mental resilience the last couple of weeks 🧠
The boys can get very easily frustrated at themselves if even a couple of things start to go wrong 😡
Focusing on letting the mistakes go and concentrating on the next task without letting their frustration creep in as it often just leads to more mistakes 🙇
Working on self belief and being confident in their ability ⚽️

Had the boys in working hard again last week
Looking at moving the ball to get past opponents
- Focusing on slowing the defender down before speeding up to get round them
Working together in a 2v1 situation to get the ball past a defender
- Focusing on movement away from the defender to receive the ball
Lastly looking at playing in to player, bouncing the ball and then spinning in behind
- Focusing once again on movement away from the defender to receive the ball, concentrating on first touch and weight of the pass in between the defenders
