Tuesday The Dang Musical Theatre Classes

🎭 Tuesday is for our Musical Theatre Classes with The Dang Syllabus! 🎭

😍 We loved being back to classes today!

😉 Today's Level 1 class were practising their dramatic acting skills with a bit of fun playing the winking game! 🤣 After that we started our new song for the term and became monkeys 🐒 with our Jungle Book song "I Wanna Be Like You!" 🐵

🧼🪣 And "It's the Hard-Knock Life" for our Level 2 students in our new song from Annie! We started to learn the song and tried out some props to use in our dance! 😊

🩰 Dance Exams are designed to motivate and encourage students of all ages and levels of ability, through a systematic measurement of progress and attainment! They provide students with an important and achievable goal to work towards. By achieving those goals, we often see a remarkable boost in self-confidence!

🩰 Many students love to be challenged, achieve, and progress, and take great pride in their Exam success and displaying their certificates!

🩰 Exams reward achievement, can motivate further learning and are something to celebrate!

🩰 Studying for a dance exam also promotes discipline and commitment within the dance studio environment; a skill benefiting more than just the dance world! Also later ISTD Grades (6+) give students UCAS points that can be used when going to university!

🩰 On the Exam Day at Studio Unique we always ask our students to come in one hour before their exam to allow time to get prepared with their hair and uniform, warm up and as we are lucky enough to have two halls at Burridge Village Hall, they have time to run through and practise some exercises with a teacher!

🩰 We always have a teacher there to support the students before they go in and as they are called into the hall in their pairs or groups for each exam. They always come out excited afterwards to tell their waiting teacher and parents how it went!

🩰 We love to celebrate our exam day, so we always take pictures of our students and share our successes on our social media channels! Look out for our Ballet Exam pictures on Sunday! 🥰

✨ Exam Week: Preparation is Key! ✨

✨ Exam Week: Preparation is Key! ✨

🩰 At Studio Unique we run our exam sessions usually twice a year, one during the spring term and one during the winter term. We assess our students approximately 4 months in advance of our planned exam dates. We only put students through for an exam if we feel they will be ready to pass at that time.

🩰 Depending on the graded level, about 4 to 6 weeks prior to the exam date, we add extra weekly Exam Preparation lessons for those students who are ready and want to take part in the exams.

🩰 This allows extra preparation time and practise outside of normal lessons specifically for those students to focus on going through their exercises and syllabus and to run through mock exams, so they know what to expect on the day.

🩰 Any students who are ready to move up a class but do not want to take the exams will move up together with them after the exam session. This way we always keep students at the correct ability levels!

✨ Exam Week: ISTD Exam Syllabus✨

✨ Exam Week: ISTD Exam Syllabus✨

🩰 The ISTD Exam Syllabus is broken down into graded levels and at each level there are a set of exercises that students will learn in their weekly classes. At Studio Unique we offer classes from Pre-Primary classes up to Intermediate level in Ballet, Tap and Modern.

🩰 As the grades progress there are added exercises and rhythm patterns which are unset. This means the students can practise different possibilities, often listening to a rhythm pattern, clapping it back and performing dance steps to the same rhythm. Although these can be practised in class, the examiner will decide on the day which rhythm to test them on!

🩰 There is often an amalgamation performance of a combination of steps in Tap and Modern exams that can be practised in class, along with a dance which can be either pre-set or choreographed by the teacher to perform steps at the graded level.
