🥊 SUPER PROUD OF MAX TODAY 🥊
Today was another massive step in Max’s boxing journey. At just 11 years old, after having a couple of skills bouts, Max stepped through the ropes for his first proper competitive bout.
The result didn’t quite go his way, with Max losing on a split decision.
For anyone who doesn’t follow boxing, a split decision means the judges weren’t all in agreement on who won the bout. Some saw it one way and others saw it differently, with the final decision going to Max’s opponent.
But that result takes absolutely nothing away from Max’s performance today.
As his coach, I couldn’t be prouder of him.
I was in his corner today, and what impressed me most was how well he listened. Every time he came back after a round, I gave him instructions on what I wanted him to change and what I wanted him to do next.
He listened, took it all in and went straight back out there and did exactly what I asked of him.
For an 11-year-old in his first competitive bout, that tells me a lot about the young boxer I’ve got in front of me.
Chin up, Max. You did yourself proud today. 🥊❤️
You’ve had your skills bouts, and now the next part of your boxing journey has properly started. There will be wins, losses, tough days and great days — they’re all part of becoming a boxer.
Today you gained something that no one can take away from you — experience.
First competitive bout in the bank.
Proud of you, mate. We learn, we move forward, and we go again. The journey has only just begun. 🥊
