Training on a Monday? There must be a match coming up! We were put through our game paces by our Coach Macca including covering scrums and line outs. We'll just get our breath back in time for the next training session on Wednesday.

Training hard last night ahead of the new season kicking off on 8 October with a home game against Berkshire Unicorns at Southampton Rugby Football Club.

Tomorrow, we have a 'Give It A Try' session' at Southsea Common, Portsmouth. Meet us at The Parade Tearooms at 18.30 if you are curious about joining or seeing what we are all about! We welcome everyone and it would be great to see as many people as possible come along for a fun session.

Look out for our Wyverns flag and members wearing our red and yellow socks! 🔴🟡

A new UK IGR Southern Division season is upon us and our first two fixtures are home games!

👉 Saturday 8 October we will be hosting Berkshire Unicorns RFC - kick off 14:00
👉 Saturday 5 November we welcome Westcountry Wasps RFC - kick off 14:00

Both matches take place at Southampton Rugby Football Club, Lower Brownhill Road Test Playing Field, SO16 9JZ Southampton.

We had the pleasure of having a guest coach last night at training and would like to give a huge Wyverns thank you to Jenksy for her time and effort and to Butty for arranging. 🙌

It was a really great (lightning free!) session and certainly gave us lots to think about and work on as the season approaches.

Wednesday training had us upping our fitness levels and improving on our tackling and game play skills ready for the new season!

It was a hot night for training session number 4 of the 22/23 season at Southampton Rugby Club. 🥵

We were missing a few club members that are in Canada for the IGR Bingham Cup but the rest of us knuckled down and worked on our catch and communication skills!

Thanks to our coach Butty for some innovative and fun techniques to improve both! 🥚💦

2022/23 training session #3...we are all smiles, smoulders and sweat!

Our members last night at training standing in solidarity with our trans community following the shocking decision of England Rugby to ban trans girls and women in rugby!

Our members are shocked and disappointed in the recent decision to stop anyone playing rugby in this manner and wanted to show their support, even if only in a small way!

We condemn this ban - a sad day for inclusivity in rugby! It is meant to be a sport for all!

Our second training session for the new season took place last night and was a mixture of fitness training, throw and catch practise and touch.

We had a great turnout of old and new players and are really excited about the new season! Thanks to Macca and Butty, our amazing coaches for once again putting us through our paces.

With 4 days left until proceed with the vote on the proposed ban of trans girls and women in rugby stand with our community to say do not allow a ban!

Allowing the proposed ban to proceed would prevent an entire group of rugby players from playing a sport we love and adore!!

Rugby is for all!!

As an inclusive rugby club, based in Southampton, Wessex Wyverns RFC wholeheartedly condemn the proposed ban of trans girls and women in rugby!

The proposed ban from England Rugby goes against everything rugby is meant to stand for - inclusivity and a sport for all!

It should not matter what gender, gender identity, race, or sexual orientation you are, or identify with, rugby is meant to be for everyone!

We ask that those voting on Friday 29 July do not vote to exclude an entire group from rugby, based upon flawed and incomplete evidence that does NOT support the ban!!
