Southend United FC Youth

As the football club prepared to descend on Wembley Stadium for the FA Trophy Final, there was silverware up for grabs on the Finals Day of the at Charlton Athletic’s Training Ground for our u9s and u11s.

Our u9s emerged from a thrilling semi-final victorious after a 3-2 win against Finesse Academy. In the final they faced a very strong Epping side, and after a game with chances at both ends, it was Epping who found the decisive goal to win 1-0.

Our u11s also faced Finesse in the semi-finals, winning the game 1-0 in a tense encounter. In the final they faced Bows Sports Academy, where they ran out 4-1 winners to clinch the cup. Ryan Eastabrook also walked out with the match ball as man of the match, a decision picked by Ferdinand Football staff, which included Anton and Rio Ferdinand.

Head of our Academy 9-16s programme Tom Bailey has praised the whole tournament at Ferdinand Football, and has especially praised our two young Shrimper sides who represented us so well on finals day.

Our u9 and u11s sides were victorious in their quarter finals matches on Friday, meaning they have qualified for the finals day at Charlton Athletic’s Training Ground on Saturday.

An incredible end to an incredible season, the u19s end their campaign with a 4-1 win against Sutton United in Roots Hall!
We saw Harrison Lamb and Ronnie Durussel bag for us in the first half before Nikolay Zlatev's brace put the game to bed in the second!
A big thank you to all who attended our final game and any game played throughout the season you helped make this season that much better!!!

The u19s got to train in Roots Hall this morning ahead of Monday's match against Sutton United to end the season!

Hard work and harmony to round off a season at Roots Hall!
A brilliant 7-2 triumph over Kings Lynn thanks to goals from Hamlet 4’ + 84’, Blake 5’ + 54’, Hyams 28’ and Telford 40’ + 41’!!!

Huge matchday tomorrow! The u19s face Woking at 12:30 at their home stadium, while the u17s play Kings Lynn at Roots Hall at 14:15.
We hope to see you cheering on the u17s for their last game!

Two of our academy sides competed against EFL academies once more over the last week.

On Thursday 30th, a 14/15s mix travelled to the training ground of Ipswich Town to take them on.

On Saturday 2nd May, our 11 side travelled that little bit further to test themselves against Norwich City.

We thank both our hosts for the opportunity and are delighted with how the players fared against top opposition.
