🤠 SADDLE UP SATURDAY – Meet WES Pro Jan Gay! 🤠

We’re excited to introduce one of our newest WES Pros… Jan Gay 👏

Find out about Jan 👇🏽

Hi, I’m Jan – a UKCC Level 3 coach specialising in natural horsemanship and western riding. While I’ve ridden across many disciplines over the years, western is truly where my heart lies ❤️

Around 10 years ago, I made the switch from English to western… and I’ve never looked back.

One of the highlights of my journey was qualifying for the World Championships in America 🇺🇸 – an incredible experience that shaped my knowledge and continues to influence my coaching today.

At home, I’m producing my own horse Thor, who I’ve had since he was a youngster. It’s been a rewarding journey watching him develop step by step.

I’m passionate about coaching and supporting both horse and rider to reach their goals – no matter how big or small. Because at the end of the day… every day is a school day 📚🐎

Welcome to the WES community, Jan! 🙌

Why I ride and let my students ride with two reins in the outside hand?

As a western coach, I am often asked how can western techniques help the English rider.
And Here’s How
1) builds a deeper more balanced seat western saddles encourage riders to sit deep and relaxed. This helps English riders develop a secure independent seat which improves balance confidence, especially in the flat work and dressage or riding young horses.
2) Teachers relaxation and feel western horses are often ridden on a loose rain which helps us trust the horse and use our bodies and seat instead of relying too much on the rains this improves feel and to be able to communicate quietly

At the end of the day, they both rely on good seat rhythm balance and relaxation.
