A sport-loving teenager who turned to bowls after being diagnosed with a joint condition, wants to see more young people take up the game.

Thomas, from Bedfordshire, was diagnosed with Osteochondritis Dissecans (OCD) in 2023 after feeling his arm "pop" during a swimming competition.

He tried to carry on swimming and playing football, but things became "increasingly difficult" for him, so he took up bowls after attending an open-day at Leighton Buzzard Bowling Club.

Unlucky today everyone in our away clash with Aston in the Stevenage Mixed League. Very fast green with quite a fast slope into the ditches. Was a pleasurable day and great company.

Green didn’t go our way tonight. Rink 4 very tricky, lots of divots that moved the bowls off course but no excuses we lost on one rink and won on the other. Well played everyone and thank you for all turning up and playing better than the England team!!

Another round in the East Herts League last night saw us away to the Rosehill Otters in Hoddesdon. Strong win on one rink and a close game that swung both ways on the other with the Otters eventually coming out on top on that one. So we won on one rink and lost on the other but took the overall score also so a good 4 points out of 6. This Friday we play Welwyn Garden City Tigers.
