Everyone at Bowler Racing is deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Paul McCumisky, known to so many across the paddock as “Paddy Mac” number 99, the Comeback King.

Paul was a true character and a real legend of lorry racing. His passion, presence and contribution to the sport will be remembered by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him, racing with him, working alongside him, learning from him, or simply sharing time with him around the paddock.

People like Paul are part of what makes truck racing such a special community. A mentor to many, a great friend to so many, and a true hero whose loss will be felt across the whole British Truck Racing family.

To Paul’s family, we send our deepest love and condolences. We know no words can ease the pain of losing such an amazing husband, father, granddad and great-great-granddad, but please know how proud you should be of the man he was and the legacy he leaves behind. His strength, courage and fighting spirit right to the end will never be forgotten.

Our heartfelt thoughts are with Paul’s family, friends, colleagues and everyone who loved him at this very sad time.

Rest in peace, Paddy Mac. ❤️👼

🏁 Final Race of the weekend at Thruxton 🏁

The final race of the weekend for the British Truck Racing Championship at Thruxton Race Circuit gave us our best result of the weekend following difficult races over the 2 days 🤷🏻‍♀️

Heavy rain 🌧️ poured right before the start of the race but actually held off when the race got underway. That rain left the track very slippy with some poor visibility at the start. John started on the second row of the grid in P4 which was an advantage when weather conditions were so poor 👀

John battled his way up to P2 in the first few laps but dropped back to P3 following some back end traction issues due to the wet surface. However we held on well to this position until the race was red flagged 🚩 due to oil or diesel on the track sending most of the trucks sliding all over the place! 🍌🍌🍌

We will come back fighting stronger again at Pembrey circuit next month but for now Bowler Truck Racing Team and Thruxton racing over and out! 🚛💨💨

🏁 Race 7 of Round 2 at Thruxton Race Circuit was another tough one for the team. John started at the back in P14, pushed hard and picked trucks off with each lap to move all the way up to P6 💪🏻🚛💨💨

On the final lap of the race he pushed up again into P5 only to end up being spun off the track following some contact to finish P9 🤷🏻‍♀️

Disappointing after such great progress throughout the race but John and the team have reset the truck and we’re ready to hit it hard again in the final race of the day scheduled for 17.20 🏁

🔥 WHAT A DRIVE FROM JOHN BOWLER! 🏁

John started P14 and wasted absolutely no time getting stuck in, charging his way through the pack in a fast, clean race to bring the #14 Bowler Racing truck home in P5. 💪

And it gets better…

John also set the fastest lap of all drivers in the race and recorded his personal best around Thruxton. That is some serious pace. 🔥

He’s on form, full of spirit, and the truck is running perfectly thanks to the hard work of our brilliant team of mechanics and the continued support of our fantastic partners.

The pace is there. The truck is strong. John is fired up.
