Well that's taken longer than expected but we've now been advised that construction of the new Hubba to be overlaid over the existing one will start Monday 3 July. We haven't been told how long it will take, so we've asked the question and will update when we hear.

UPDATE: Job done by Shelby landscapes Ltd, THANK YOU!
Friends of Memorial Park need help to move 4 large logs please! https://www.marplememorialpark.org.uk/notices/seeking-help-with-transport-of-logs.html
In response to the damage done to the silver birch tree near Lock 11 by a park neighbour last year, Friends of the Park would like to bring four large oak logs to the park. These will be sited in the centre of the park as informal seating that can be used by young people without interference from our neighbour who thinks they are above the law.
The council's contractor TLC were going to transport the logs for us but their tractor has been broken for months and time is slipping away to get them moved for the summer holidays.
Do you own a local business with the means to help please?

New hoops and nets for the Basketball Court: https://www.marplememorialpark.org.uk/projects/basketball-nets.html
Sometimes a park improvement only needs to be a small thing! New basketball nets fitted by Friends of the Park is one of our lowest budget and quickest projects ever, and new hoops are on their way! Thanks to Alex for your enquiry that set this in motion and your generous donation that has covered the costs of the new nets!

At Friends of the Park we've been worried about the wear on the Hubba rails on the old jumpbox for some time. This element of the skatepark was built in 2000 and has seen a lot of use over the last 23 years. We became concerned that the rail (which is a hollow tube) would wear right through and create a jagged edge that would then be very dangerous.
So we've been nagging the council for quite a while and we have just learned that we are soon to get a brand new Hubba overlaid over the existing one. The work is scheduled to be done during the next few weeks, so access will be partly restricted for a while.
We've asked for the Easter holidays to be avoided if they can but that may not be possible due to the contractor's workload. Attached are some images of the main problem area and a drawing and mock-up photo of the new Hubba, which will be approximately 100mm (4") bigger all round.
If we get more accurate information about when the work is to be done we will share here.
