Match Report

Well played today, boys! 👏🏼 ⚽️ Still undefeated!

The first half was a very tight and closely fought game, with both teams working hard. We managed to get ourselves in front and, from there, never looked back.

Travis and Denley shared the goalkeeper duties today and both were excellent. They were confident with the ball at their feet and made some really good saves when called upon.

Grayson and Tobias continue to improve with every game, and today was their best defensive performance to date. They worked really well together, helped the other goalkeeper and, most importantly, kept a clean sheet.

There was one particular moment that really stood out. The away team looked certain to get through, but Tobias never gave up and produced a last-second tackle to stop the chance. A brilliant bit of defending and a real highlight of the game! 👏🏼

Joey and Denley worked hard for the team, playing some lovely passes and putting in plenty of effort when tracking back and defending.

Charles found the scoresheet again today and is really starting to grow into his role on the right-hand side. His dribbling and crossing were particularly good to see, and he continues to improve in this position every week.

Jack got himself two goals, Travis added one and Seb scored an excellent hat-trick. ⚽️⚽️⚽️ It was another great day in front of goal, but what was even more pleasing today was the improvement in our passing and defending as a team.

We have now scored seven goals in three games on the bounce, but today was our first game where we conceded nothing. That clean sheet is something the boys should be really proud of. 👏🏼

🌟 Player of the Match 🌟

Tobias was our Player of the Match today. His tackling, passing and ability to read the game were excellent throughout. The last-second tackle to prevent the opposition from scoring was particularly impressive and showed great determination right until the end.

The away team coach chose Seb as their Player of the Match for his hat-trick, with this being his best league performance to date.

FC Teesside Thornaby v Riverside Juniors Madrid

A fantastic team performance from the boys today against Riverside Juniors Madrid! 👏🏼

The game started off very evenly, with both teams working hard and creating chances. Travis started in goal and pulled off some great saves to keep us in the game early on.

Grayson was excellent in defence throughout the match. He looks really comfortable in this position and is improving every time he plays there. Tobias also shared the defensive duties and had a really good overall game. His passing was excellent throughout, and it’s great to see him continuing to improve in this position.

Denley started on the right today and worked really hard, especially with his tracking back and helping Grayson defensively. Charles also played well in this position and is really starting to grow into the role.

Seb worked hard for the team, tracking back and putting in a real shift. He got his goal in the second half and led the line really well. When Leo took over, he worked hard for the team too and was unlucky not to get himself on the scoresheet.

Jack started on the left and, after a tough opening 10 minutes against a good Madrid side, he broke the deadlock with an absolute rocket! 🚀 We went into half-time with the lead.

Madrid came out in the second half determined to get back into the game. Denley moved into goal and pulled off some very good saves to help keep the score in our favour.

Travis then came back outfield in the second half and his energy was fantastic. His ability to get up and down the pitch was brilliant, and he is really improving at setting his teammates up and bringing others into the game. You can see how much this is improving his overall game. His goal today was fantastic too — a great run from just outside his own box before finishing it off nicely! 👏🏼

The final 10 minutes really belonged to us, with Jack, Travis and Seb all getting on the scoresheet to put the game beyond Madrid.

Another fantastic team performance from all the boys. They worked hard for each other, showed great improvement and kept going right until the final whistle. 👏🏼⚽️

A special mention to Travis, who was chosen by the opposition manager as their Player of the Match for his goals and his performance in goal.

⚽️ U9 Matchday Report ⚽️

A very well done to all the boys today! 👏🏼 The weather could have made things tricky, but the boys handled the game really well and put in a fantastic team performance.

We built a good lead in the first half and never looked like giving it away. There was some lovely football played throughout, with some great passing, teamwork and goals. ⚽️

🧤 Denley and Travis shared the goalkeeper responsibilities today and both did a great job.

🛡️ Greyson led the way in defence and put in a strong performance. Toby followed this up when he took over and did really well too.

⚡️ Jack and Travis were excellent on the wings, playing some great football, linking up well, and contributing with some fantastic passing and goals.

🎯 Sebastian led the line brilliantly, working hard all over the pitch and deservedly getting himself on the scoresheet.

👏🏼 Joey worked hard throughout the game and showed some lovely touches. In his development role, he also got his first goal!

💪🏼 Leo is still learning and getting to know his new teammates, but once everything clicks into place, it will be lovely to see. He worked hard today and it was great to see him get his goal too!

🌟 Charles put in his best performance today. He played with confidence, scored a lovely goal and put in some great crosses. Hopefully this will give him a real confidence boost.

🏆 U9 Tournament Report 🏆

What a fantastic day for the boys today! ⚽️👏🏼

We started the tournament with a draw in our first game, with some brilliant saves from Denley in goal, while Jack got himself on the scoresheet twice. It was newcomer, Leo’s, first game with us and he didn’t disappoint.

Our second game saw us pick up a win, with Jack once again scoring two goals! Denley was fantastic in goal again, making some great saves. 🧤Travis showed great pace, racing up and down the pitch and giving his all for the team. ⚡️⚽️

For our third game, Denley moved out to right wing and got himself on the scoresheet with a goal of his own! ⚽️ Jack continued his incredible goal-scoring form with another two goals. 👏🏼Travis made some incredible saves during his time in goal.

Our fourth game ended in a draw, but it was enough to secure our place in the semi-finals! 🙌🏻We also came up against our first girls’ team of the tournament, which was a great experience for the boys. Grayson made some fantastic tackles and worked hard defensively. 💪🏼

Into the semi-final, and Jack did what Jack does best — another two goals to help get us into the final! 🔥⚽️ Joey put in a brilliant shift for the team, working hard from start to finish. 👋🏼⚽️

🏆 THE FINAL 🏆

Unfortunately, the final ended in a penalty shootout defeat, but the boys should be incredibly proud of themselves. Denley pulled off some cracking saves, including during the shootout, and gave everything right until the very end. 🧤❤️

⭐ Special mention to Leo ⭐
Today was Leo’s first ever match with us, and what a debut! He was a strong player, worked hard and fit into the team brilliantly. We’re so pleased to have you with us, Leo! 👋🏼⚽️

🌟 PLAYER OF THE TOURNAMENT — JACK 🌟

Without a doubt, this one had to go to Jack! His goal-scoring throughout the tournament was outstanding, finding the net time and time again and playing a huge part in getting us all the way to the final. ⚽️🔥👋🏼

So proud of every single one of the boys today. They battled, worked together, showed great attitude and gave it everything. ❤️🖤

⚽️ Match Day ⚽️

The boys played really well today against another strong Riverside Juniors side. They had two players who played in Division 3 last season, with the rest playing in Division 6, as well as a player we may recognise from a friendly game we played a few weeks ago.

We were a little short at the back today with a few players unavailable, but the boys worked incredibly hard and really pulled together as a team. 💪🏼

⚽️ Goals from Travis, Seb and Greyson — these boys never stopped running and worked tirelessly to put the opposition under pressure.

Jack and Joey also worked their socks off, putting in some lovely crosses and showing great effort throughout the game. 👏🏼

Tobias was incredibly brave to share the goalkeeper responsibilities with Travis today 👏🏼 and he was also commanding in defence. He came so close to getting on the scoresheet himself with a fantastic long-range effort! 🚀

A really positive performance from all the boys today, and it was fantastic to see them working so hard for each other as a team. 🖤❤️

We have no game planned for next week, so it’s back to training before our next games at our first tournament! 🏆⚽️

⭐️ Player of the Match: Greyson ⭐️

Today was really difficult to pick just one Player of the Match, but I felt this was Greyson’s best game to date. He never stopped running and worked incredibly hard for the team. Well deserved, Greyson! 👏🏼

We have a trophy on the way and once it arrives, this will be passed between our Player of The Match 🏆

From now on, we’ll be awarding a Player of the Match after every game, and I also have a little surprise lined up for the boys at the tournaments… 👀🏆⚽️

🏆 AND WE HAVE A WINNER 🏆

Well done to Holly, who picked Burnley on the blind card and is now £90 richer 💰

Thank you to everyone who got involved as it helped raise an incredible £160 for the team. This helps go towards funding tournaments, equipment and trophies for the team. The team is beyond grateful to everyone who participated. ❤️🖤
