MATCH REPORT| Ball Green 3-0 AFC Wolstanton

The game started off slow as both teams tried to find that first goal.

And that first goal came quickly through Jack Podmore. Finding himself unmarked in the box, beating his man and firing across the keeper. 1-0 Ball green

Ball green then went on the front foot as the lads put the pressure on. With Jack once again beating his man, firing across the box on a plate for Martin Podmore from 3 yards out. Excepting to bury it but the wolstanton keeper getting across to claw it off the line.

In the build up to half time we had some comedic moments such as: Ethan almost played an under arm throw in; Botty cutting in from the left and firing a shot out for a throw in; Botty getting on all 4s for the full back as he slipped right in front of him and Kirky slipping on his arse kicking another ball on the pitch. HT - 1-0 Ball Green

Changes came at 60 minutes with Kirky coming on for Martin and Taylor Magee making way for Dan Hart.

The changes impacted not long after as the ball was whipped in by Botty, with wolstanton failing to clear, Connor Kirkland arrived and buried it into the bottom corner to extend the lead. 2-0 Ball green.

More changes were made not long after as Ethan made way for Korbyn Smith; Aiden Chad made way for Mr Ball Green himself - Ryan Jackson and Rory Bowyer coming on for Paul Preston in CDM.

Wolstanton tried to get one back but hope was lost when Kirky Pounced on a loose pass from the full-back, rounded the goalkeeper and easily tapped it in the net to seal it. 3-0 Ball green.

MOTM - Ethan Barlow, was brilliant last week and was on another level this week. The lad keeps getting better and better

DOTD - it was close with Martin for missing from 3 yards out but Scott Wilkes takes this one with a shot that could’ve killed an innocent bystander and going all doggy for his fullback. Must’ve felt bad because he kept beating him. Although he did a cracking job as club chef this week and did his shift behind the bar

MATCH REPORT| Ball Green 1-1 AFC Stoke

Ball Green were finally back in league action as they faced old rivals in AFC Stoke with both teams getting promoted last season.

The game started slowly from both sides as neither side seemed to be able to make the decisive breakthrough.

Chances came for ball green as Connor Kirkland whipped a ball into Dan Hart’s feet, taking a touch but then narrowly volleying just wide.

Ball Green found the break through though as a long throw found its way across the box to Dan, who somehow headed it back across between two players to Kirky at the back post to tap it over the line. 1-0 Ball Green

This didn’t last too long though as Josh brought their forward down in the box who slotted away the penalty. 1-1

More great chances for Ball Green came in the second half as Botty beat his man cutting inside well but striking just wide of the post

Another attack came knocking as Jack Podmore played Kirky in behind the back of the AFC Stoke defence striking hard and low with the AFC goalkeeper making a great stop to keep things level at 1-1

Changes were then made with Taylor Magee coming on for Dan and Mitch, making his debut, coming on for Kirky.

Both teams put pressure on but to no avail. Both defences stood strong and Ian Stanway at the other end also pulling off a great save to keep the game at 1-1. Goalkeeper Union and all that

The game fizzled out at 1-1, a really contested game of football with both sides giving 100% on a warm morning.

MOTM - Shane Wallace at the back. Absolute immense swept up every ball and didn’t put a foot wrong all game.

DOTD - Joshua Kirton, unusual for Josh but after 20 million steps up a mountain on Saturday it’s to be expected and also gave away the pen.

As a token of Appreciation for the help that Ball Green Workingmens Club gave us all last season we decided to pay back a little by having all the lads who finished the season with us sign a shirt and frame it for the club, thank you to you all for your help last season and the commitment you have made to help us this season. MATCH REPORT| Ball Green 3-2 Barley Mow Development

Sunday league on a Wednesday night was a treat for the lads as we faced barley Mow Development

Barley started the stronger of the two sides as the boys tried to find their feet in the game. The back 4 of Ethan Barlow, Shane Wallace, Joshua Kirton and Korbyn Smith stood tall dealing with any threat coming their way.

Ball Green were forced into an early change with James Kania making way for Dillon Gasken. This had an impact on the side as Dyl dummied a throw down the line right into Connor Kirkland’s path who beat 2 defenders and played it across for Jack Podmore who rounded the goalkeeper and tapped it in the back of the net. 1-0 Ball Green.

Barley were caught out once again as Kirky got on the end of a diagonal over the top pass once again beating his man he pulled the ball back to Dyl on the edge making a cup of tea with the time he had. Dyl then fools everyone with one of the best air shots I’ve ever seen with the ball falling to captain Fantastic Paul Preston, burying home on his weaker foot. Absolute scenes considering he couldn’t score from 6 yards against AnB last year. 2-0 Ball Green

The half wasn’t done just quite yet as barley converted a free kick on the edge of the box. With Luke’s hands going full James Dale and ghosting. 2-1.

Subs were made at halftime, with Maca coming on for Kirky; Aiden and Rory Bowyer replacing Korb and Ethan and Poddy coming on for Presso

Barley started strong once again with a midfielder driving from deep and burying into the bottom left corner from range. 2-2.

Kirky then came back on for Jack Podmore, Alfie coming on for Dill, Korb coming on for Shane, and Poddy being replaced by Presso with both teams scrapping for a winner.

In the dying minutes of the games sweeping ball over the top was sent over the barley back line who had pushed up. Maca had to leave it because he was offside and the ball fell straight to the path of Kirky. The number 10 beating his man for pace and calmly finishing with the outside of his boot to win the game. 3-2 Ball Green

MOTM: Rob Pace won this by a clear margin, dominating the midfield and winning every challenge he went into.

DOTD: AAiden Chad Late, ran the line and also his mouth
