Round 6 at Ross on Wye, and what a day it was.

A stunning course, seriously hilly, and definitely not one for anyone hoping for a gentle stroll. Tough walk, tougher scoring, but Lee Salis clearly didn’t get the memo, coming in with a brilliant 42 points to take the win.

He also becomes the latest man to pull on the famous jacket, which we’re now officially describing as “one size fits most”.

Special mention as well to Ash Jarvis, who finished second again, this time by a single point. That is now four runner up finishes.

Always the bridesmaid, Ash.

🚨 STEWARDS’ ENQUIRY COMPLETE 🚨

Unfortunately, due to Joe Allen’s inability to distinguish between the numbers 5 and 6, we have discovered a scoring error at Bearwood Lakes.

After confidently celebrating his victory, Fred has now been informed that he was, in fact, only the winner in Joe’s imagination.

The actual winner is David Jackson! 🏆

David had originally lost on countback after a heroic blob up the last, but following a forensic investigation of the scorecards, the result has been overturned.

We’re honestly amazed David managed to remember his own score. Most days, he struggles to remember where he left his glasses, and there’s certainly nothing hiding underneath his hat to help jog his memory. 👨‍🦲

Congratulations, David. A famous victory secured through resilience, determination and Joe being unable to count.

Commiserations to Fred, whose reign as Bearwood Lakes champion lasted slightly less time than it took us to check the scorecard.

All future society scoring will now be completed with Joe under adult supervision. ⛳️
