1pMobile Junior Sportbike National Championship Donington Rnd 10 Race Report
Free Practice: I went out for practice getting back into the feel of the bike having not ridden in since Thruxton. A really good session ending of the session I finished P5 in practice with a 1:40.9
Qualifying: I went out feeling ready after a good free practice and tried to push my times on but I only managed to take 0.4 off my free practice time which by the end of qualifying put me P10 on the grid with a 1:40.5
Race 1: Really up for the race but after a decent start I got pushed out wide into turn 1. I lost a couple positions & then going into old hair pin I made a move up the inside of a rider but exiting the corner I was in the wrong gear which ruined my drive & let the group get away from me. After trying to catch them all race I just couldn’t manage to get back to the group & ended up finishing down in 11th.
Race 2: After making a change to the gearing the bike felt a lot better for race 2. I got a good start and managed to stick with leading group but after running on at the chicane I didn’t lose enough time and I ended up with a long lap penalty which I tried to complete - que the worse LL in history. I lost the leading group, ending up 12th but got a new personal best time with a 1:39.8.
Not the positions I wanted for the last round but I’m still really happy with the improvement over the year and getting some of my goals, 3 Podiums a Pole position & 7th in the Championship is more than I would have thought possible.
A huge thanks to all the NW RACING team and all our Sponsors, Supporters & Friends. You have made this an incredible BSB Debut season. We have had our ups & downs but it’s been the best experience.
Finally I would also like to give a massive congratulations to Marley Mackenzie on winning the championship and you really deserve it after all the hard work and determination throughout the year. 👏🙌
