Some moments from a hectic few weeks, appreciating the joy in what I do between the storms ā¤ļø

Tonight I hosted my first proper mindset evening for a riding club!

25 riders turned up and bravely shared their experiences, creating a great discussion into what effects our confidence and how we can work on improving it.

It was super thought provoking for myself too… as someone who grew up a shy, only child, standing up in front of this many people and delivering a presentation like this would’ve been one of my worst nightmares!

I nearly flunked my English GCSE by being unable to perform my oral exam, and when I took my coaching qualifications at age 20, my assessor questioned if coaching was the correct career for me as I was so shy!

Confidence is all in the mind… it can be trained, practised and developed like any other skill. I walked away from this evening not only proud to have inspired a group of people, but to have realised how far I have come personally.

Thank you to all who came, doing this job really is a blessing šŸ™šŸ¼

A busy Autumn photo dump from the past few weeks!

The weather may be testing, and days off may be few, but I wouldn’t have it any other way ā¤ļø

It may be one week away, but Black Friday starts today until Friday 5th December!

Between these dates if you book one mindset session with me - either online or in person - you will receive a second at HALF PRICE.

That means your second session with me would cost just £15!

Most riders I am working with are seeing the benefits with multiple sessions to hone their mental skills, so why not take advantage of this deal and get prepared for the season ahead?

It’s here... the season of terrible weather, coughs, colds and pulled shoes!

So with that in mind, here is a quick reminder of my coaching T’s & C’s...

1. ALL payments for services must be paid on completion via cash, BACS or card (unless agreed by prior arrangement). Please note, I will now be carrying a mobile card machine for ease of paying.

2. New clients wishing to book into clinics must pay the full amount in advance to secure their space.

3. Cancellations with under 24 hours notice will be charged in full, and under 48 hours charged at 50% unless I can fill your spot (adverse/dangerous weather conditions will of course be taken into account).

4. Clients will not be able to secure a space at a future clinic if they are in arrears from a previous lesson/clinic.

Whilst I appreciate these terms may sound fairly strict, I am spending an increasing amount of time chasing up late payments, or dealing with last minute cancellations, no shows and even complete non payments. I have to remember I am running a business and have my own obligations and bills to pay.

Thank you all for your continued support, and I look forwards to working with you to smash your 2026 goals! Gemma x

Being born into a competitive equestrian household, I used to think that success equated to being the best!

In fact, my dad has often said ā€œnobody remembers who came secondā€. And from a competitive view point, he’s entirely correct!

But over time I’ve realised that success now looks different. It looks like growth, empathy, feel, and commitment. Is about giving your horses the best chance to be the athletes we expect them to be, through listening and learning every ride.

I try to teach all my clients that the best riders aren’t perfect - they are patient, consistent, and always open to learn. These are the riders who are better than they were yesterday!

ā€œHorses teach you a lot… and very little has to do with horsesā€

They teach you patience when you are frustrated, courage when you are unsure, and humility when things don’t go to plan.

They teach you to listen, to lead with kindness, and to show up - even on the hard days.

Their lessons go behind the arena. They shape who we are - how we communicate, how we trust and how we grow.

Some of the best life lessons happen between good eats and the quiet moments on the yard. That’s the real magic of this sport… it’s not just about riding better, it’s about being better.

Another busy evening with the simulator holding a straightness clinic for 13 ETSW riding club members!

With winter approaching and terrible weather already here, what better way to continue your training in the coming months?

Plenty of learning, tea, cake and laughs at these group evenings. DM me to book yours.

15 years ago I suffered the worst fall of my life…

I’ve had many absolute hurlers in my career having cut my teeth riding anything I could get my hands on as a teenager, but coming off a 14hh pony whilst in walk and shattering my leg was not on my bingo card as a 21 year old!

7 operations spanning nearly 5 years shaped both my career and who I am as a person.

My stability in the saddle was greatly reduced, and days on the yard left me at home in the evenings unable to weight bare. I had days where I didn’t know if I would ever heal, and many where I felt depressed. I was unable to run, play sport and enjoy the things I loved out of the saddle, as well as being hindered in it.

I gave up a dream of riding professionally and forged a career coaching.. and for that I do not look back at those years with negativity. Being a coach has enabled me a lifestyle where I enjoy horses with flexibility, it is different every day and full of amazing people and animals, and it fills my heart with joy watching riders I coach succeed in whatever they do.

I guess what I’m trying to say is that negative events don’t have to define you. You can use them to SHAPE YOU into someone better and give you a purpose you didn’t know you needed. The resilience you build in hardship will return to you tenfold, and the humility and gratefulness you can choose to learn will become strengths.

Next time you have a setback, an injury or an event which makes you question your path… just ask yourself ā€œam I being redirected to where I am supposed to be?ā€

Had forgotten I had taken some footage of my straightness simulator clinic I ran last month!

If you were wondering how easy it was to book a session… it is fully mobile, and all you need is a dry space and a plug socket!

I can also hold sessions at my own home, or at yours.

In equestrian sport, it’s never just about talent - it’s about each time you show up.

On the days when the weather is awful, when the session feels tough and when progress feels slow - that’s when it really counts.

Because excellence isn’t built on the big moments in the arena; it’s shaped quietly, day after day, in the training, the endless stable chores, and in the early mornings and late nights.

It’s when you keep showing up, keep learning and keep believing.. That’s how average becomes excellence!
