The cricket summer of 2026 may be over, but that just gives us the perfect excuse to look back at some footage, relive a few memories and open up the conversations that will have to tide us over until next season. 🏏
This particular clip is a great place to start and fantastic viewing!
Stanmore CC vs Teddington CC – Round 2 of the ECB National Cup 2023.
1 run to win, at the non-strikers end on 98* whilst on-strike, our Australian overseas from doing all he can to give Wakers the chance of registering what would have been a simply brilliant century. Stanmore CC had other ideas!!!
Was it right that Wakers was denied the opportunity of a century? Those at our club were split just FYI….
Where does this sit within the ‘Spirit of cricket’?
The team always comes first and a win is a win, but when your teammate is doing all he can for you when the outcome is a certainty should you be denied one of the great feelings in the game by what one can only describe as pettiness?
One thing is for sure, we all need a teammate like that reverse block is exceptional and the stroppy march off the field is truly one of the best we have ever seen!!
and the cricketing community, your thoughts? 😊
As a side note Wakers said he was fine with it. Believe what you will!!!
