Splish, splash! 💦🏊♀️ Our nursery children had SO much fun at swimming! From lots of splashing and giggles to confidently jumping into the water, everyone had a fantastic time. 🥰

Swimming is such a wonderful way to build water confidence, develop new skills and, most importantly, have lots of fun along the way! 💙🌊

🐞🔍 Little bug explorers! 🐜🕷️

This morning our nursery children got creative drawing pictures of their favourite bugs! 🎨 We chatted about all the different colours we could see, where our bugs might live and even counted how many legs they have. Using our magnifying glasses to take a closer look was especially exciting! 🔍🐛

The fun continued out in the garden with lots of water play 💦, scooping and pouring oats, and getting creative making different marks in our cocoa powder tray. 🤎

So many wonderful opportunities for curiosity, creativity, counting, fine motor skills and sensory exploration all through play! 🌿✨

🧙♀️✨ Witches’ brews and frog slime! 🐸💚

Our little scientists have been busy cooking up some magical witches’ brews in their cauldrons! 🧪 Using pipettes and syringes, the children carefully sucked up different coloured water before mixing the colours together. We watched in amazement as they changed and eventually created a brilliant green which, of course, quickly became known as FROG SLIME! 🐸😂

We’ve also been strengthening those all-important fine motor skills by threading beads onto shoelaces. 🧵🌈 The children used lots of concentration and hand-eye coordination to steady their laces and carefully thread each bead. We even extended our learning by creating patterns and counting how many beads we had used.

So much learning through play experimenting, predicting, counting, creating and, most importantly, having lots of fun! 💚✨

🌿💦 Messy, sensory fun in the garden! 🐷🐮🐑

We had such a wonderful time exploring outdoors! We started with some fresh herbs from our very own allotment, smelling and exploring them before using them in our play to create some magical potions! 🧪🌿✨

Then things got SUPER messy with our gloop and farm animal tuff tray! 🤩 We identified the different farm animals, made their sounds and had so much fun stomping them through the gloop. We even explored the different marks and footprints they left behind, using paint to create even more patterns! 🎨🐾

Of course, the water trays were a firm favourite! 💦 Our little ones practised their pouring and control as they carefully transferred water from one jug to another — with plenty of splashing along the way! 😂

So many opportunities to explore our senses, develop fine motor skills, build language and, most importantly, HAVE FUN! 💛

🍌🍞 Baking up something delicious! 🍞🍌

Our children asked if they could do some baking and, after sharing their ideas together, they decided banana bread was the perfect choice! 💛

We started by reading Handa’s Surprise and chatting about our favourite fruits, looking closely at their different colours, shapes and textures. 🍊🍍🍌🥭 We then explored bananas in more detail, using our banana charts to discover how they ripen and change colour over time.

Then it was time to get baking! 👩🍳👨🍳 The children worked beautifully together to measure, pour, mix and stir, talking about each ingredient and exploring its colour, smell and texture along the way. We smelled the cinnamon, tasted the sultanas and all agreed they were VERY squishy! 😂

And the learning didn’t stop when the banana bread went into the oven… our little helpers even got stuck into washing up the bowls afterwards! 🫧🥣

A wonderful child-led experience filled with teamwork, maths, communication, sensory exploration and lots of independence – all sparked by the children’s own idea. ❤️

🍝🎶 Pasta play & making music! 🎶🍝

Our little ones had so much fun exploring pasta through sensory play! We practised our fine motor skills as we scooped, poured, filled and emptied, developing our hand-eye coordination and control along the way. 🥄✨

We then turned our pasta into our very own musical instruments! 🎵 We loved shaking, listening and discovering all the different sounds we could make. Such a simple activity filled with so much learning, creativity and fun! 💛

🐷🐴 Squash, squeeze, squish & explore! 🐮🐑

Our nursery children had so much fun getting hands-on with our squash and squeeze sensory tray! We chatted about all the different animals we could see and learned the names of their babies too. 🐣🐄

Then it was time for a game of hide and seek! 👀 The animals disappeared underneath the spaghetti and little hands got busy squishing, squeezing and searching to find them! 🍝🙌

The fun didn’t stop there… afterwards we got up and played Animal Freeze! 🎶🐾 We pretended to be different animals, moving around the room before FREEZING when we heard the instruction! 🐒🦁

Such a fun way to combine sensory exploration, language, listening skills, imagination and lots of movement — all through play! 💛✨

🐠 A trip inspired by our children! 🐠

After some of our children began chatting about a fishing trip, we decided to follow their interests and take our learning on an adventure to Pets at Home! 🚌✨

We loved exploring the fish, watching them swim around their tanks and talking about the different colours, sizes and types we could see. 🐟👀 There were lots of excited conversations and curious questions along the way!

Of course, we couldn’t forget our feathered friends back at nursery! 🐔💛 We picked up some yummy sweetcorn for our chickens before heading back to give them their special treat.

We love seeing where the children’s conversations and interests take us! 🌟

📚🌾 Book of the Month: The Scarecrows’ Wedding! 🌾📚

This month we’re enjoying the wonderful The Scarecrows’ Wedding, and our children have been bringing the story to life through their own creativity! 🥰

Using playdough and a selection of loose parts, the children explored different textures, shapes and materials as they designed and created their very own scarecrows. 🌻🧑🌾

There were so many fantastic ideas as they carefully chose what their scarecrows needed, developing their imagination, fine motor skills and creativity while making connections with our story. ✨

We love seeing where a favourite book can take our learning! 📖💛

🌧️ Rainy days are made for exploring! ☔️💧

Our nursery children have been taking a closer look at the weather this week, using all their senses to discover the rain! 🌦️

We talked about what rain looks like, listened carefully to what we could hear, and explored how the raindrops felt as they landed on our hands and faces. 💦👂🏼👀

It was a wonderful opportunity to slow down, notice the world around us and learn through real-life experiences. Who knew a rainy day could bring so much curiosity and discovery? 🌧️🥰
