🗣 Performance thoughts 🗣
Today we bowed out of the FA Cup following a 4-1 defeat to Wimborne Women.
For the opening 20 minutes we were in control, playing with confidence and looking really positive. Unfortunately, the game changed after Carly was injured by what we felt was a questionable challenge and had to be carried off and taken to hospital.
Big moments change games and this was certainly one of those.
It understandably rattled us, and amongst the chaos that followed, Wimborne took advantage and we found ourselves 3-0 down shortly afterwards.
As this group always does, the girls kept battling and working for each other. Emmie Curtis pulled one back to give us some hope, but unfortunately it just wasn’t meant to be.
A special mention has to go to Freya, who stepped up and went in goal after Carly’s injury. It’s never easy being thrown into that situation, but she did a fantastic job for the team.
Before the game we told the girls that whatever happened, we didn’t want them walking away disappointed with their performance. I don’t think any of them should be disappointed with the effort they gave today.
Not the way we wanted our FA Cup journey to end, but proud of the way the girls kept going despite everything that was thrown at them today.

Gutted with today’s result in the FA Cup.
The first half was disappointing from us. We let the game get away from us in one spell, straight after our keeper had to leave the pitch injured, and we were punished for it.
We showed a much better side of ourselves in the second half. We battled hard, kept going and gave everything we could to try and get back into the game.
We’re obviously gutted to go out, but there’s plenty of character in this group and we’ll learn from today.
