The coffee table has been delivered!

I’m really happy with the end product and I’m even happier to say the customer loves it! Even Dexter the dog is a fan!!

There was a small off cut left over so I thought it’d be nice to add some complimentary coasters made from the same oak as the table.

Dry fit, top & shelf removal and finish applied.

I just LOVE the way the grain just comes to life when you add a finish!

I’m using Z-Clip tabletop fasteners to attach the top and shelf and for a finish I’m using Osmo Top Oil 3028 Clear Satin. This is the first coat, and tomorrow I will give it a go over with either 0000 steel wool or an abrasive pad to nick any “nib” down then apply the second coat for that perfect finish!!

Another step closer to being finished.

Coffee table so far.

Tabletop and lower shelf is all glued up and nice and flat, sanded and ready for finish. All other components for the base are now glued up and in clamps.

Tomorrow will be a final sand up of the base, add finish and then fix the tabletop and the shelf to the base ready for delivery!!

Finish will be Osmo hard top oil.

That’s it, I’ve decided…

I’m going to build myself a guitar! It won’t be wall art either. I’m going to make it playable and more importantly, gig-able!

The design stage will start once the current job is finished.

If anyone has any ideas and/or recommendations for places to get decent k***s, switches, pickups or hardware in general, let me know!

An oak coffee table commission? Don't mind if I do.

I’m very happy with this end result!

Box frame for historic and current medals for a Firefighter. Her grandfather served with the London Fire Brigade during World War II and she is currently serving.

The box frame is made from Padauk with Oak corner splines for added strength to the mitred corners. The name plates are strips of oak and have been laser engraved.

300mm x 150mm x 40mm.
