What a performance from our keeper today! 🔥

Q was absolutely outstanding between the sticks, making save after save to keep Spartans in the game when Coylton were putting the pressure on. 💪🧤

His positioning, bravery and quick reactions were on point all game, including a number of huge saves and getting down the right way for the Coylton penalty. 👏

A proper keeper’s performance and a massive contribution to the boys coming away with the win! 💙⚽️

⚽ Match Report

What a game! 🔥 A real battle between two strong teams, with plenty of goals, pressure and some fantastic goalkeeping at both ends.

Spartans started strongly, applying plenty of early pressure and getting the breakthrough through Caelan, putting us 1–0 up. Coylton responded with a spell of pressure, but Q was equal to it with an excellent save. Coylton eventually found an equaliser through a deflection to make it 1–1.

The game continued at a fantastic pace. Charlie came close after a great attack, forcing an excellent double save from the Coylton keeper. Spartans continued to push, and after another brilliant strike from Caelan was saved, Charlie was there to find the back of the net and restore the lead — 2–1 Spartans.

Both teams continued to attack, with Q making another string of important saves and Alan putting in some excellent defensive work. Coylton eventually levelled again at 2–2, but Spartans responded brilliantly. A fantastic long ball from Alan released Caelan one-on-one with the keeper, and Caelan calmly finished to make it 3–2.

Spartans came out strongly after the break, and Alan was brought down in the box after being surrounded by three Coylton players. Penalty to Spartans! Ollie T stepped up and confidently converted to make it 4–2.

Coylton continued to threaten, but Spartans remained defensively strong, with Q making another excellent save. Spartans then extended their lead through a brilliant team move. A great throw-in from Max, followed by a header from Logan to Alan, saw Alan cross for Harris, who finished superbly to make it 5–2.

The pressure continued, and another foul on Alan gave Spartans a free kick. Ollie T delivered the ball perfectly to Alan, who found the back of the net to make it 6–2.

Alan was causing Coylton all sorts of problems, including a brilliant run where he dribbled past four players before crossing to Skyler, who was unlucky to put his effort wide.

Coylton pulled another goal back to make it 6–3, but Spartans responded once again. After another strong attack, Alan found the net to complete his contribution and make it 7–3.

Then came another moment of quality from Caelan, who produced an absolute beauty of a strike to make it 8–3 Spartans! 💥

Coylton were awarded a penalty late on, with Q guessing the correct way but unfortunately unable to keep it out, making the score 8–4.

The final stages saw both teams continuing to battle, with Q making another excellent save to deny Coylton. Felix also produced an excellent tackle to stop a dangerous break.

After a full-blooded contest from start to finish, the final whistle went:

SPARTANS vs Ayr Boswell 2014’s

A slow start from the boys today 😴💪

We took the lead from the penalty spot through Zac, who showed great composure after being asked to retake the penalty and confidently put it away. ⚽️ 1-0!

We went into half-time with the lead, but knew there was plenty more to give.

The boys came out much stronger in the second half and shortly after the restart, Caelan grabbed our second. From there, we pushed on and added further goals through Charlie, Tyler with a fantastic strike from around 45 yards! 🚀, Felix, and Junior.

A much better second-half performance and plenty of positives to take from the game. 👏
