This is the third in a series of evaluations where I watch a speech, I have 5 mins prep time and I then present my review of the speech. I thought about taking longer but the skill here is about refining my evaluation skill and working towards the goal of formulating and presenting clear feedback quickly.
Commendations and Recommendations from today's speech
The main features for me were a mentor in the hero's journey speech structure, the energy and the innovative use of Zoom to transport use through time. My recommendations were balancing theatre and a thought provoking speech and perhaps trimming sections to allow the speech to be slowed down a little.
I was fairly happy with the evaluation, the main learnings for me are to improve my note taking so it is on one page, the annotate my notes more clearly as I go through and to be reflecting on certain phrases I may use for the theme of a section e.g. energy so when delivering my evaluation I can draw on these more crafted lines from memory rather than having to creating on the fly.

“Public speaking was always something I thought I could do, I was a bit of a show-off as a kid, doing drama, writing sketches in church etc and I loved it. Then when I went to university to train to be a physiotherapist, I found that I stumbled with my words, I blushed, and my heart raced! I just couldn’t do it.
