I’ll stick my neck out and say “It needs to be said to the RFU loud and clear … or make them Premiership Promoters - cos they sure as hell leave Grassroots rugby playing the part of Oliver “can we have some more sir?”

🗣️ “It’s such an honour and privilege to play for your county. I wish there were more teams involved.

“Kent struggled this year because Blackheath had play-off games and couldn’t release players.

“We played one of the poorest Kent teams there’s been for quite a few years.

“I really hope the counties and the RFU can come to some sort of agreement financially to make county rugby stronger again because it is such a key part of rugby.

“It’s a privilege to play for your county and I’d hate to see that disappear.

“Once county rugby is gone you’ve only really got club rugby and professional rugby left.

“We won’t get back to the days when Cornwall were playing in front of 60,000 people at Twickenham in 1991, but I’d love to see six or seven counties battling it out and making it a really strong competition again...

Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would be part of something like this. All I have ever wanted is to give playing opportunities to players who deserve them, and to help make sure they get the recognition and appreciation they have earned.

I know people might feel like they’ve heard this story before…….but start listening.

The difference between the men’s and women’s game is clear: money.

These history-making, roof-blowing, fabulous women will fight, give everything, and expect nothing in return. They’ll go back to their jobs the next day, get on with life, and still turn up again because they love the game.

The majority on the men’s side are paid athletes. Yes, many may still work too, but they are also paid by clubs to live out their rugby dreams. For women, that same dream often comes with sacrifice, unpaid commitment, and endless graft behind the scenes.

Our pathway to the final was tough, hard-fought, and bloody entertaining.

So, to anyone out there looking to support an exciting, growing sport….look no further. Women’s teams all around the county are waiting for you.

And I promise you, it will be the best investment you make.

Because you won’t just get talent, passion and commitment, you’ll get the most dedicated support back that you could ever ask for, because these women know exactly what it means to be seen.

CORNWALL RUGBY LEGENDS TO JOIN JACK NOWELL AT ST IVES RFC 🏉

St Ives RFC are delighted to confirm that Cornwall rugby figures past and present will be joining England and British & Irish Lions star Jack Nowell for a special fundraising evening in aid of the club’s new clubhouse project.

Joining Jack on the night will be:
