It's not as simple as you make it out to be, George 😏.

Inner work is multi-layered and nuanced, it can be slow, incremental and even boring, but it PAYS OFF! Don't give up 🕶💫.

One of the most common issues reported by my clients is poor sleep 🥱. Did you know that poor sleep and a dysregulated circadian rhythm are responsible for a host of different symptoms that can develop into long-term conditions? Hormonal, metabolic, reproductive, mood and mental issues, inflammation and various syndromes and diseases, among other things are directly linked to poor light hygiene, backed by decades-long, robust research 💡.

On top of that, we're constantly bombarded by blue light everywhere we look. This is a deep rabbit hole, but for now I'll just say that there is a way to start working on a better circadian routine and blue blocking glasses are something I swear by 👓.

These are NOT just tinted glasses, they're created in a special lab to block 100% of blue light (and 100% of green, depending on the shade). For reference, your usual "blue coating" offered by opticians goes UP TO 30%.

For those interested to give a try to blue blockers, I recommend BlockBlueLight (based in the UK) and VivaRays (based in Canada). Both ship worldwide and have great product ranges.

Exploring Neuroception 🌿
Did you know that your brain and body are constantly absorbing information from your surroundings? Through all of your senses, they are actively processing a staggering amount of information, 95% of which you are not even consciously aware of. This constant influx of information causes your nervous system to react automatically, either by making connections or disconnecting for your own safety. This process is known as neuroception 💡.

I like Brainspotting because it's a very natural approach to working with trauma, it has a gentle yet noticeable effect, works on symptoms instantly and helps reorganise the brain in nourishing ways.

You might come up with ideas, emotions, memories that hit you "out of nowhere". You might have an urge to reorganise your space, change the way you work, pick up that project you'd been neglecting. And when it comes to intense memories, Brainspotting can help lower the intensity or even deactivate them.

Best of all? It works online and face-to-face. Words can be sparse or totally absent in a Brainspotting session since we're working with the body, not focusing on the stories of our logical brain. It's perfect for those struggling to express themselves, people of few words, introverts and more.

I'm a qualified Level 3 Brainspotting practitioner, soon Level 4, currently filling up my last spaces for August. Get in contact for more details and claim 20% off for a limited time.

Self-love is not selfish. It might sound like a simple concept, but for those who were taught that our needs are not the priority, it may sound counter-intuitive 🤯.

In a world with increasing levels of egocentrism and narcissism, where the meaning of words is distorted and taken out of context, motivational phrases may sound like they add fuel to the fire of an emerging social issue: selfishness. I'm not refering to those people 🙅‍♀️.

I'm referring to those - you know who you are -, who put others before themselves and even when they're running on empty, they'll still overperform and be a great parent, partner, professional etc. I'm referring to those who feel like their body is gonna give up on them any minute (until one day it actually does). To those who feel that they don't have permission to live their lives unless their loved ones are taken care of first. Even then, after everyone is asleep and they're finally alone, they'll silence their needs as "not important enough" and they'll fall exhausted on their bed until the cycle starts all over again 🛌😣.

It might sound weird, but I've found you can't really love others in a healthy and secure way until you love yourself. You can't help others as effectively if you don't take care of yourself first. You can't pour from an empty cup, or the cost will be too high in the long run. If this sounds like a mountain, fret not! It all starts with a single step and every step makes a difference and acts cumulatively.

If you can relate to this, pat yourself on the back; you've come a long way. Take a breath and cut yourself some slack. You deserve it 🌻.

One of the things narcissistic abuse survivors have in common is often a deeply rooted belief of not being good enough, loveable or worthy. In one way or another, this belief was formed during childhood. An example would be growing up in a household where one of the two parents is either a narcissist or possesses strong narcissistc traits, which then directly impacts a child's sense of self-worth 😔.

As children, when we come into this world, our parents or caregivers are our heroes, so they can't possible be wrong. They can't be wrong even if what we're feeling deep inside is painful, upsetting and confusing, right? There's got to be something wrong with us then 🤔. Or at least that's what the majority of children tend to believe; that what happened back then, for example a divorce, somehow happened because of them and not because of the parents 🤬⚡😤.

Now how this reflects later on in life, is when we look for a partner, the brain will subconsciously look for something that feels familiar, not necessarily for something that will make you happy (thanks brain!). If what is familiar to us as an interpretation of love is feeling "not good enough", we might end up choosing a partner that satisfies that need for familiarity, to our absolute detriment! 🤯

That's not to say abuse is justified by any means. Abuse is inexcusable under any circumstances and it happened TO you not BECAUSE of you. Yes, you might have the background described above, which often predisposes you to subsconsciously attracting toxic relationships, but please understand that the abuse is a reflection of the abuser, not you. It speaks volumes about their inner wounds, although it gives them no alibis and no excuses. It's time to take back your power and claim a peaceful and bright future that is available to you 🌻.

Can you relate?

🌻Very often people ask me to describe how trauma coaching or therapy might impact their life, so I tried to put together something that might explain it visually. It's not an exhaustive list, but you get the picture.

🌻The goal of trauma-informed coaching or therapy is not to get rid of trauma, forget about it or undermine its importance and the mark it potentially left on you. The goal is to acknowledge its existence, learn to be with any emotions and sensations that arise (especially the uncomfortable ones) and create more capacity to contain everything. Also, work with the body while gradually releasing some of the stored survival stress and lowering the intensity of trauma. This way what happened to you will no longer call the shots and you will once again be in charge of your life ✨️.
