And just like that pre-season is over. Since the first week in January the girls have worked down the beach, hill sprints, shuttles and some games of football as we travelled to Mintlaw, Inverurie and Turriff for friendlies as they prepare for life at U18s. The girls couldn’t be any better prepared if they tried…..look forward to a trip to Alness next week as we face last seasons A League winners Ross County but I’m sure the girls will thrive on the challenge.

Once again we thank our sponsors;

A massive well done to our girls who finished runners-up in the North 16s Rachael Boyle League behind worthy winners Deveronvale CFC 16s. This was a very competitive league and the girls had to fight till the end to secure 2nd place. The girls should be very proud of what they have achieved this season. Looking forward to seeing how the girls develop at U18s ❤️🖤

Yesterday we travelled to Inverurie to play Colony Park 16s in what was a great game of football as Grampian looked to keep in touch with the league leaders. The game started brightly with both teams having early chances but it was the home team that took the lead with a well worked goal, with some great build up play on the right hand side the Colony player would leave the keeper with no chance from what seemed like an impossible angle. It wouldn’t be long before Grampian would get an equaliser with Towler winning the ball down the right, who would square the ball into the box and the ball would eventually land at PRINCESS who would poke the ball over the line.

H-T 1-1

The second half seen both teams pushing for a winner and on 52 minutes when PRINCESS would score her 30th goal of the season. Colony Park would throw everything at Grampian in the second half but the defence stood strong to take the important 3 points.

F-T 2-1

Yesterday we faced league leaders Aberdeen West End as Grampian tried to keep in touch at the top of the table. Grampian started very well and would test the Aberdeen West End keeper early. Grampian would take the lead on the 15th minute when top scorer PRINCESS would score from what seemed like an impossible angle. Aberdeen West End would get themselves back in the game on the 22nd minute when a well worked move down there left hand side seen them cross into the middle and the ball was cooly slotted past the keeper.

H-T 1-1

The second half seen both teams pushing for a winner and on 67 minutes captain MURDOCH would score with an absolute worldy, the ball was worked across from a throw in and it would land at her feet on the outside of the box with the shot leaving the keeper helpless. Both teams would have chances but Grampian held on for a valuable 3 points.

F-T 2-1

After 9 weeks Grampian had there first game at home since the league restart as we faced a Turriff team on a good run of form.

Turriff would start the better of the 2 teams and if it wasn’t for keeper Gray they would have found themselves trailing at half time. Turriff created 3/4 clear cut chances but couldn’t get the ball in the net. Grampian thought they had taken the lead just before half time when a shot from range by Princess looked to have beaten the keeper but the referee deemed the ball not to have crossed the line.

H-T 0-0

The second half started better for the home team creating some good chances but just couldn’t convert them and on 67 minutes they would be punished for this as Turriff took the lead. There left midfield won the ball after a bit of confusion in the Grampian defence and hit the a curling shot past keeper Gray who had up till then looked like she would keep a clean sheet. But credit to the Grampian team they did not let the heads go down and pushed for an equaliser and on the 80th minute they got there deserved goal. Princess driving into the box was taken down by the Turriff defender and returning from injury ROSS would show a calm head to slot past the keeper.

F-T 1-1

Based on both half’s I think a draw was a fair result but both teams will be disappointed not to come away with the 3 points.

We wish our opponents good luck for the rest of the season.

Yesterday seen the girls back in competitive action after the summer holidays as we travelled to Peterhead to face Buchan Girls FC 16s.

The girls got off to the worst possible start when they went 1-0 down in 30 seconds with there striker getting the better of the Grampian defence and smashed an unstoppable shot past the keeper. Buchan caused the girls problems every time they came forward and came close 4 minutes later hitting a shot just wide of the target. Grampian equalised on the 9th minute when a driving run from Davidson seen her fouled in the box and IVANOVSKA made no mistake with the resultant penalty 1-1. Grampian being back in the game was short lived as Buchan would score 3 goals in 5 minutes with there 4th being goal of the game with a free kick 20 yards out leaving the Grampian keeper no chance as it nestled in the top corner. On the 25 minute mark Grampian would make a triple substitution and this seemed to spur the girls on but found the Buchan keeper in fine form as she made save after save and it just looked like it was going to be one of those days. Just on the stroke of half-time Grampian pulled one back when the ball landed at the feet of RUSSO and she smashed the ball into the net to make it 4-2 at half time. This goal was important as at 4-1 I don’t think the girls would have seen a way back but at 4-2 they felt they had a chance.

H-T 4-2

Whatever was said to the girls at half-time seemed to work as the girls came out all guns blazing in the 2nd half and on 46 minute PRINCESS beat the off side trap and smashed the ball towards goal and the keeper was unfortunate not to save but the score was now 4-3. At this point it was wave after wave of attack but the Buchan keeper and team did tremendous to keep Grampian at bay but the equaliser came on 67 minutes when TOWLER latched onto the ball in the box 4-4. This seemed to knock the stuffing out of Buchan who had played so well and 2 minutes later PATEL put Grampian in front to make it 4-5. And in 71 minutes who else would complete the scoring but PRINCESS with a well taken goal.

F-T 4-6

Massive credit has to go to the Buchan girls and especially the keeper who played the whole game with 10 girls, making it look at times that it was Grampian that had the 10.

This wasn’t Grampian’s finest 80 minutes but the girls showed a real desire in the 2nd half to get back into the game and need to realise we can’t afford to give teams a head start.

We wish our opponents good luck for the rest of the season.

Yesterday seen the girls travel to Carnoustie as we face Panmure CFC Girls 16s in a friendly.

The 5 week gap between games showed in the girls first half performance but it was PRINCESS who continued where she left off scoring for Grampian in between 2 Panmure goals in the first half.

H-T 2-1

The second half was only 10 minutes in when the game was delayed to an injury to one of the Panmure defenders. After a lengthy stoppage the game was moved to the neighbouring pitch. Grampian created chance after chance but just couldn’t get past the Panmure goalkeeper but on the 75th minute it was goal machine PRINCESS who broke through and slotted away the equaliser. With the game heading towards a draw Grampian would sn**ch the winner with the last kick of the game after a stramash in the 18 yard box which seen the Panmure keeper pull off a great safe but the ball landed at the feet of STEPHEN who smashed the ball into the empty net.

F-T 2-3

We wish our opponents good luck for the rest of the season.

Massive thank you to our sponsors R&M Electrical Group Ltd, J Henderson & son Slaters, A.M personal training and fitness, Grampian Continental Ltd, Jewson, Precision Pumping & Metering Ltd for their continued support.

After our friendly we travelled through to Dundee for some teambuilding activities, the girls had an absolute blast.

Saturday seen us host Colony Park FC 16s in our last game before the summer break and what a belter of a game it was for the neutrals.

The Grampian coaches knew it was going to be a tough one as the league table showed very little between the 2 teams. Colony would start the better of the 2 teams pressing Grampian from the very start. Grampian did however create some early corners but couldn’t do anything to test the Colony keeper. Midway through the first half Colony would take the lead with a well worked goal and not long after doubled there lead.

HT - 0-2

Not sure what was said to the girls at half time but they came out of the traps flying and had soon pulled one back on 41 minutes through BOYNE. Grampian not long after edged in front with a quick fire double from TOWLER to make the score 3-2. The game at this point was end to end with both keepers being tested. Grampian extended there lead on 67 minutes with STEPHEN scoring the 4th. Colony showed they weren’t giving up without a fight and would pull one back on 73 minutes to make the score 4-3.

The Grampian defence would stand firm for the last 7 minutes and hold on for the win.

Final score 4-3

We wish our opponents good luck for the rest of the season.

Yesterday in temperatures reaching 23 degree’s at sunny Kaimhill we had our first home match since the 22nd April against Westdyke Thistle 16s.

Despite the heat the game was being played at a frantic pace with both teams testing either keeper in the early stages. Grampian would open the scoring when Princess would force the keeper into a save and BOYNE latched onto the rebound to make it 1-0. PRINCESS would continue her scoring streak hitting 2 in the first half. Westdyke would test keeper Gray but she was determined to keep the opposition out pulling off a couple of great saves.

H-T 3-0

The second half was a bit slow in getting going but on 60 minutes TOWLER was at the back post to tap in to make it 4-0. Grampian would round up the scoring on 74 minutes when some great work from Princess on the right would see her square it to RUSSO who would take touch and lash it past the keeper.

Final score 5-0

We wish our opponents good luck for the rest of the season.

Yesterday seen us travel to sunny Portgordon as we faced Buckie Girls 16s hoping to put the disappointment of the last 2 weeks behind them.

The girls started at a frantic pace with PRINCESS scoring twice in 6 minutes but Buckie would hit back and levelled the score with 2 quick goals. Grampian would hold the advantage at half time with DARROCH scoring her first Grampian goal and PRINCESS grabbing her hat-trick.

H-T 2-4

The second half seen the home team start the better team and pulled a goal back on 56 minutes. This gave Grampian a bit of a wake up call as they hit back with goals from TOWLER, STEPHEN and a double from SULLIVAN.

Final score 3-8

We wish our opponents good luck for the rest of the season.
