Staffordshire Bucks or Bounty Archery Tournament

Staffordshire Bucks or Bounty Archery Tournament

An annual archery tournament with a difference! It continues, rain or shine, profits fund local clubs, and archers can win money.

All we're missing is a bit of consistent weather...

Operating as usual

14/02/2024

So you may have noticed that the Bucks or Bounty brand has disappeared from this years calendar. The organising committee decided that 2023 would be our last.

It has been 14+ years of hard work with the majority of the committee having been running a tournament since our inaugural September event, playing through 4 seasons of weather in the space of a day, switching to the May Bank Holiday and introducing the Bucks or Bounty format to award cash prizes, and being given the opportunity to host the National Tour for the last few years.

We wish to start by thanking the archers, you were the reason we kept going through the wind, rain, and hail. The awards you achieved and the enjoyment you had really made it worth it.

Over the years, the tournament has been supported by so many volunteers, without whom we could not even have made it to the first arrow on day 1. Particular thanks to members of Stafford Archers who made up the majority of our volunteering teams every year. Special mention to Nick Carr who was one of the first names every year.

The judging team varied each year and we wish to thank them for their efforts. However, there were some who would always be there, and were part of our committee to ensure we ran a tournament that met all the required standards each year.

Ours sponsors down the years who helped fund the event and add to the prize pots, Nadia Lammas Glass who produced the bespoke trophies for the last few years, and of course Jon, Rob and Archery GB staff.

The tournament has successfully raised £0000s for local clubs which would not have been possible for all those mentioned above.

Thank you for your support
The Organising Committee and Taylor family

There have been a few changes to the organising committee for this years tournament. Forgive the long post

Steve Taylor has decided to step back from his role as TO and Paul McColl, who has been present as a part of the work party for a number of years, has agreed to take over this responsibility.

I am sure you will all join me in thanking Steve for his efforts over the years since we first started running the September tournament. Steve will still be around and is still involved in supporting the tournament so you will see him there.

Please also join me in welcoming and thanking Paul for taking on this responsibility for 2022 and beyond.

Steve Kirk has also joined the committee as additional club liaison support with our biggest contributing club partner, Stafford Archers.

Don't forget, entries open tomorrow. See you on 30th April & 1st May.
