Listen : we've all had it tough during the pandemic - pubs and restaurants are not unique in that regard. Let's face it: the UK national figures on obesity are scandalous, while being overweight is increasingly identified as one of the key factors in promoting serious illness and premature death with regard to infection by COVID-19 and its variants. Not to mention the cost in heart disease, stroke and diabetes, to name but a few.
So, please, stop whining, and do your calorie calculations... It really doesn't take that long for menus that are either static or which have to be planned for data in advance to ensure deliveries. You can bet the house on the idea that restaurants will be doing minute financial calculations to ensure they turn a tidy profit - it's not a labour of love. Great: trust me - nutritional analyses take far less time and might make people happier, healthier and able to longer, more productive lives!
Calories on menus 'will cost thousands of pounds'
Restaurants want plans to display calorie totals delayed as the sector recovers from the pandemic.
