First time in a few years I'm not at training this Tuesday...My boot of the car can't believe it has space lol

"If you give a child a ball"

If you give a child a ball, they will want goalposts to go with it. Then, they will probably spend hours begging you to go out in the garden to play with them, even though you may want to sit on the sofa and watch tv. They will insist. And their insistence will win.

And when a child gets a kit, they will need shin pads and boots to go with it. And a TEAM…..
And then life as you know it will end.

There will be no more lazy weekends watching tv. You will see more sunrises than you ever thought possible. Every spare minute of your time will be spent taking your child to training and games.

And your house will be a mess. And your car will be dirty. All because you gave a kid who has a ball.

Your weekends will be spent freezing or burning to death or getting soaked on a sideline. And their weekends will be spent gaining confidence and friends, and learning new skills and having fun.

And you will be there the day they score their first pass, first goal, or save and also their first foul . And they will make you SO proud.

And right before your eyes, your little child will be transformed from the baby who kicked or bounced
the ball and fell in love with the sport.

When you give a child a ball, you give them more than just a ball. You give them a sport, and talent, and hope, and dreams, and friends, a new family, a place to learn about life, room to grow as a person where they can push their limits, and bravery, and courage and LIFE, and memories. And they will have ALL of these things, simply because you gave a child a ball.

Because you gave a child a ball, you too will develop new/lifelong friendships, developed solely from the same passion for the game and love of your team. You will cheer together. Because you gave a child a ball.

Then one day, many years from today….they will be in their room and a ball will roll out from an old dusty bag underneath their bed. And they will pick it up and realise instantly that when you gave that child a ball, you also gave them a childhood that they would never forget. And then they will hug you, and your eyes may leak – because you realise that everything YOU gave up along the way…..was worth it!

Newport Corinthians v Newport Civil Whites

Well done boys battled hard today against a good Newport Civil whites side....

Started off the match on top with some good possession but fell behind to a goal we should never of conceded...Simple ball over the top with us day dreaming and not SCANNING again....

Then we equalised with a good shot by Oliver our captain for the day 30 mins into the game....

Went behind again from a carbon copy goal of their first 🙄....

Again equalised from a cracker from Morgan top bins....

Apart from the fact we should of won the game comfortably 😆, we played some good stuff...Need to switch on a bit more with our off the ball awareness and definitely our shooting but it was a good hard worked performance...

Our Man Of The Match today was our Keeper Luca...Had a nervous start to the game but oh my god!! What a bunch of cracking flying through the air saves....Well done lil man and I hope you enjoy showing your second Man of the Match award to your school....Well deserved 👏

Boys everyone of you from starters to substitutes were brilliant!!

Boys & Parents I can honestly say today was one of my favourite Sundays in a long time....

Everybody came together and joined in and that makes me proud 👏....

Every single one of the boys gave 100% and responded from the fantastic support the parents/grandparents gave!!!

Brilliant team effort today and well done to our captain for the day Noah...Powerful performance, reminded me of Rio Ferdinand flying through the middle of the park....Great finish also 👏...

Mason fantastic finishing dude and a well deserved hat - trick...You were brilliant up top and glad we stole you from Cromwell 😆 🤣 😂...

Oliver well deserved man of the match dude...Up and down all day long and a cracking low drive for your goal....

Morgan Right wing back, can't fault you dude exceptional today and smashed that big kid with a hell of a tackle....Brilliant courage to do that....

Stevie and Freddie in the middle ran the show and closed down all day long...Fantastic passing between you both...Freddie what a ball for Masons goal 👏...

Luca your kicking has improved so much and closing down the ball was quality....Like having a second centre back....

Georgie closed down well today and we switched on, well done dude...Some cracking passes out of the back for us to attack...

Rico and Rory well done the effort was there and the hassling and breaking up play was a massive contribution....

Villa Dino V Newport Corries

Yet again fantastic support and effort from the parents 👏....

The boys showed effort and determination after the first 3rd of the game...

The first 3rd we were blown away by a fantastic well drilled Villa Dino....They showed their class with passing, moving and finding the space to hurt us....

After the first 20 mins we started to compete and got our well deserved goal....

Brilliant performance from our centre back Noah....Haven't seen a performance like that since being with the Corries in over 2 years as a spectator and now coach...Took the game by the scruff and drove us forward!!

Well done Noah keep it up dude...

Good finish by Freddie today 👏...He was our captain for the day and ran all day long!!
