Day 1 at GB camp 🇬🇧
84/103
For the love of the game
Appreciating all that weightlifting has given me over the last 12 months, I have learnt A LOT
And I feel like I’m finally seeing the big changes in how I approach my training these days.
Tearing my adductor was really sh*tty but feel like I’m growing into the athlete I want to be and I’m here for it

My journey back to a triple digit front squat after an adductor tendon tear
Finally starting to feel almost back to normal after tearing my adductor tendon back in late June last year
Little did I know that the pain I felt after a jerk up in Nottingham for the world trials would have been the cause of 8 months of pain, fear and doubt
I ignored it for the weeks leading up to the British and still managed to lifts best ever total at that bodyweight
Fast forward to August after 2 weeks off and it still didn’t feel right.. went for a scan and found out I had an adductor tear right up on the tendon where it connects into the p***c bone
Worlds was just over a month away and I knew I had to put up a total to stay in the game for the commonwealth qualification (you must compete at 2 international commonwealth qualifying events to remain eligible)
So I did what I could in a month even though I wasn’t able to safely do full lifts yet, so we stuck to powers.
After worlds my adductor still wasn’t healing properly as I needed time and recovery for the rehab exercises to rebuild the tendon. Any Olympic style lifting was off the table for the next month and I had to pull out of the English in the hopes that the tendon would have more time to heal properly.
Tendons need a slow increase in stimulation to rebuild and stay happy, you increase too quickly it flares up, you move too fast into the lower depths, it flares up, you got too deep too quickly, it flares up. Each flare up can last from a few days - weeks which sets you back even further. The process is long and without the proper help can be even longer.
Olympic lifts are the most taxing thing for an adductor as it requires stability with heavy weight, deep catches and fast movements into those deep catches
I’m lucky to have had guidance along the way and so I have to say a huge thank you to all that have been involved to get me back into shape
The work isn’t finished yet, but this is a good first step ❤️

It’s been a ride the last 7 months and we are still not completely there yet, but I have learnt a lot in the process.
Injuries are never easy and the impact on your mental health can be huge, so be kind to yourself. You will comeback, it will take time but it will all be worth it in the end

Euros 2026 selection
Can’t wait to get back on the platform again 🏴
As I will be competing for team England this time round I cannot place on the rankings as I will be a guest, but this is a very important qualification event for the commonwealth games later this year
See you on the platform in 12 weeks
