Madness....😌 An accident waiting to happen...

With the permanent closure of the Thirlmere ‘West’ route, Cycling UK rejects Cumberland Council’s assertion that A591 is safe for cycling and asks the council to reconsider their position. We have also invited the council to come for a ride along the A591 if they think it's so safe!

“It’s down to those of us with warm memories of quiet use of this wonderfully scenic country lane to fight to re-open it, firstly because the only alternative is the A591 on the east side of the lake which is dangerous for vulnerable road users, and secondly for the benefit of future generations. We have to prevail.” - Ted Liddle, Cycling UK member.

The journey so far...

Currently on Berneray and the weather has broken. The ferry between Berneray and Harris is unwell...her thrusters are not working properly and she can only sail within certain parameters of wind. It is pretty windy this morning but I know they will sail if they possibly can...we'll see. If we can sail we're heading to Harris, if not, we'll stay here till the wind drops...
