***BACK IN BUSINESS***
Race Report
Recently I participated in the September EMRA round at Mallory park on board my Smartseal/PICs Yamaha R6 in the Mallory Trophy and the Open 600 classes. This was my first time back to racing in over a year and the second time riding this year alone so with the results and times mentioned below; I’m very pleased with the progress I’ve made and will continue to work hard on and off track in training as I have been doing! 🔥
Qualifying for the open 600 races was a bit of a disaster due to the wrong tyre choice on the front with it being forecasted rain but with the track drying out very quickly I had definitely made the wrong choice and decided to call the session early so the tyre didn’t chew up - finishing P9 in class with a 1:02.133…very disappointing but this wasn’t a true reflection of my capability.
The qualifying for the Mallory trophy went a lot better with a final qualifying position of P6 in class and a time of 58.163 which was working closing to my target but still not what I wanted to achieve ultimately.
Race 1 of the Open 600’s I managed to have a slow start but worked my way through the laps and managed to get another improvement on my lap times which was a 57.693 and a final result of P5 in class - this was, again, working towards a good lap time but not ultimately my goal.
Race 1 of the Mallory Trophy was where I again cut my lap times down to a best of 57.200 which I was pleased with where I was going in the correct direction in terms of timing! I finished P6 in class and was a bit happier with the final times.
Race 2 of the Open 600 class was a slightly slower race for me as at the time I thought the rear was started to go; it started to slide out in some of the tighter corners but I feel this was due to a slight lack of confidence where I hadn’t raced in quite a while properly. I finished in P6 in class with a final race best lap time of 58.106 - not the best time of the day and I knew I had to improve for the next and final race of the day in the Mallory Trophy.
Race 2 for the Mallory Trophy and the final race of the day was by far the race where I had the most confidence and where I really gained my race craft back. My aim on Sunday was to crack into the 56’s and I achieved this (ever so slightly) by getting my fastest ever time around Mallory Park on my R6 which was a 56.984. Now although this was only just cracking under the 57 second lap times, this was ultimately my goal for the Sunday to get my confidence back and I coped with a tyre that was on its way out near enough. I ended up quite pleased with the level of confidence that I’d gained and I’m ready to continue to throw absolutely everything into my laps🔥
Overall, I’m pleased with the progress made throughout the Sunday and feel I’ve made huge steps towards being quicker than I’ve ever been on a bike in my racing career. In between racing I will continue to better myself in the gym and off track in terms of mentality. I can’t wait to hop back on a bike and to really push myself even further to improve!! 👀😁
A massive thank you to my parents for their continued support and a huge thank you to my sponsors: Smartseal UK Ltd , Pattern Imprinted Concrete Supplies Ltd & Distinction LDN for their continued support.
We’ll have a proper livery on the bike soon and will have team wear completed alongside this; look forward to revealing this to everyone! 😎
Updates for the next race meeting we will be competing in will be released soon 🔜

ABOUT JA RACING
Welcome to the page for JA RACING where you can keep up to date with the talented teenager behind the team, Jake Aldridge.
Jake is 17 years old and has been racing on two wheels since he was 9 years old starting on a Mini Moto and then progressing quickly onto Pitbikes where he went on to race in the British Minibikes Championship gaining a 2nd in the Winter Championship.
Jake was then looking for a new challenge in his racing career and after researching we decided to join the Thundersport GB race series where he has just completed his first season on his KTM RC390.
We're very much looking forward to the 2018 season, with Jake having improved and learnt so much last season, we can't wait to see his achievements this year!
