Those dedicated few who avidly follow our occasional posts may remember that back in March 2025 we asked for advice on how to organise our map collection — by number, usage, or geography.

In the end, we went with Tonus Boomer 's suggestion on Facebook: number order, with a wall poster showing which map you need. 🗺️ We also took on board Phill Monk’s advice and added labels.

We put the system in place last year and have just updated it again after our 2026 map audit — as the collection shifts around a bit as numbers wax and wane!

Looking back to June, when students from Streatham & Clapham High School took on their Silver The Duke of Edinburgh's Award practice expedition in the Chilterns. 🌧️

Wet weather? Yes. Dampened spirits? Absolutely not — smiles all round! 💪😁

🏕️ Students from South Hampstead High School GDST setting up camp the night before their Gold DofE assessed expedition this summer. 🌟

They explored the limestone pavements, and if you look closely in one of the photos, you can just spot the Ribblehead Viaduct in the distance.

🐴 Students from Horsforth School made some four-legged friends on their Bronze DofE training back in September. 🏕️✨

🌧️☀️ On the weekend in September when Yorkshire reservoir levels saw their biggest weekly increase in over 30 years, we were out with Horsforth School on their Bronze The Duke of Edinburgh's Award Assessed Expedition.

As you can see, Sunday was glorious, a lot of rain fell on Saturday! 🏕️💪

🌦️ Students from Redborne Upper School & Community College got the full gamut of weather on their Gold DofE Assessed Expedition in Eryri last month — from driving rain and flooding to… sunshine! ☔🌞

A true test of resilience and good humour — well done, everyone! 💪🏕️
