Recently, I had the opportunity to volunteer and shadow my good friend and change maker at .family as an experimental route to help deliver on Lodestone House’s social value targets.
FLAVA’s mission is simple but powerful. Rebuilding families one plate at a time. Through shared cooking experiences, they create space for conversation, connection and practical life skills, using food as the vehicle for stronger relationships and improved wellbeing.
What stood out most was the room itself. Families cooking side by side, parents learning alongside their children, open conversations happening naturally over chopping boards and kitchen sinks. There was honesty, warmth, and a real willingness to engage. It wasn’t just about food!
Seeing that impact first-hand reinforced how experiential volunteering and community partnerships can meaningfully contribute to social value. Not just as a metric, but as real, human impact.
Proud to support the work Ken is leading and excited about how we can explore this type of engagement to embed community-driven approaches into what we do.

Stop Food Waste Day Round-up
Food waste is a growing problem in schools and the work we do Chartwells Independent looks to educate our students on the growing problems associated, raise awareness and discuss solution on a school-by-school basis.
My work this week has been with both Sherborne Boys and Beaudesert Park School. At Sherborne we executed our termly wastage collection and counter with an added competition between year groups over our lunch service and with Beaudesert Park School we brought content to life during a food waste assembly and offered out house points to those who generated the least waste. Both schools showing massive reductions (up to 50% since our last measurement at Sherborne and a 14kg reduction from the previous day at Beaudesert) in waste on both services.
A massive thank you to all from both schools who helped make the sessions possible and to the students for their engagement and commitment to stopping food waste!

MARATHON MAX 🏃♂️💨
Big congratulations to my second cousin for completing his first marathon over 20 minutes faster than first expected!
A little help with a quick loading plan in the week leading up to the event but his training and commitment has been unmatched since the turn of the new year.
Give those knees and toes a rest . Well deserved! 👏🎖️
