Out with Alex again on some new (to both of us) water. I think you could say he smashed it with these three beauties and about a dozen ‘back up’ fish too. All on dries. Good angling kiddo!

Lovely day out in the blazing sun and a howling gale on Tom and Trevor’s ‘home’ river… I won’t say it was easy, but it was tremendously rewarding especially when I slid the net under this one for Tom (and on a dry fly too 😇)

Showed my mate Alex around my bit of the Derbyshire Wye…

A lot of ‘fun in the sun’ guiding for the South African Ladies Commonwealth Fly Fishing Team on Elinor Lake - one of the venues for the forthcoming CWFFC… hard slog at times but we got there in the end

Solid one from today’s outing with John on one of our mutually local rivers. With the severely depleted water levels the better fish were stacked up in the deeper water, but still ready, willing and able to rise to a half-decent LDO hatch 😊

Tough old day at the office today with bright skies and strong sunshine. Pike hate both, plus a mini wave of high pressure before this weekend’s storm… we couldn’t possibly have picked a worse day 😂😂😂
In it to win it though eh? John hooked four fish landing the last two (strip strikes better than trout strikes eh mate?)
I wouldn’t have gone piking in these conditions so it’s a huge “well done” to John for sticking with the guidance, landing his first fish on the fly, seeing how to hold, handle and unhook them, etc. A brilliant start to what I hope and expect will be a long and successful pike fly fishing odyssey 😊

There are places on The Peacock Fly Fishing Club’s stretches of the Derbyshire Wye that hold more grayling and bigger grayling than the iconic Haddon Hall Beat itself. However, you can’t get Haddon Hall in the background of your pics anywhere else 😊😊😊
Guiding for Nick and Toby today on a dour old rainy one saw a fair few grayling landed, two happy anglers and a happy guide at the end of it all 👍🏻

Grandson Tom and Grandad David on their first ever day’s river fishing. First day wading. First day nymphing and first day dry fly fishing. Literally the only fishing they have ever done before was muddy puddle stockie bashing. I think we have two converts to ‘proper’ fishing here 😊

Did you ask for carp Alan? Then carp ye shall have! Lots of fun on the fly rod although no monsters today 😊😊😊

Tough day up north guiding for Ed…
Strong wind, gale force sun and next to no water. We managed to find a few sippers and even put a few in the net 😊

Not exactly ‘guiding’ as such but you’re always ‘on duty’ when it’s your job, even when just fishing with a friend… this is “Oxford” Dave with his first fish of the year (a humble PTN doing the damage on a euro rig - dropper)
