When I went to Benidorm on a girls holiday this year we went into this bar because the tunes were banging, and I was stunned for the first time in real life to see a female DJ absolutely rocking it - and I have to admit- from that moment on I was obsessed. I know singing was always my thing, but I have always loved the idea of dj-ing but even though I’ve had a military and now tech career which ironically is also male dominated… I still had that narrative in my head that it was something only boys did and got taken seriously for…

Well I say boo to that little voice and I say sorry to my neighbours as I made the decision@today that I’m going to buy my own DJ setup so I can practice and practice to get as good as the boys at this too 😉

This is where I got to so far with just 5 hours of DJing lessons with .norf_ at the 🎧

I always wanted to learn to DJ properly, though I wasn’t planning on doing so soon, but since my injury 2 months ago putting me out of action with my gigs and dancing - I needed something to perk me up, and now I’m only wondering why I’ve even waited this long… of course this now of course means I need my own set up (incoming) - but kindly the Lincoln dj hub are helping me out with that too giving me some guidance on what to get and getting me a nice little industry discount 🫶

Here’s a message to all my fellow millenials… it’s time for our midlife crisis, what’s your flavour 😉

You see - what you’re a singer, no matter where you are, people will always ask you to sing a song, lucky for me I don’t mind a bit of acapella - I was a little nervous standing up in a packed hotel restaurant terrace in menorca … but that soon wore off… my singing life started this way, from childhood, as soon as I was spotted to hold a tune my (mostly Irish 🇮🇪) family members insisting on a number no matter what or where we were. And I love to do it 🎙️🫶

Oh noooo - I’m in trouble now …

I appear to have unlocked a second new musically themed hobby this year - and this feels like one I’m going to become obsessed with too

Singing is and will always be my first love - the make up and break up of my life - the boomerang of my soul. - my peace my calm

Then there’s dancing - my playful on/off situationship that is always keeping me in my toes - never really letting me forget I don’t own it yet

Now - there’s DJing - the new flavour on the block , the exciting lure of a promise waiting to be explored
